The Falcons have steeped themselves in failure for so long that it has permeated the franchise completely. Defeated, without answers, and increasingly without hope, Atlanta is about to let an eighth straight season slip away

Consistency is key!
Finally, the Falcons are once again pacing to finish with a negative point differential. They haven't had a positive one since 2017, and they've only managed it twice in the past 13 seasons

Monday grab bag!

The Falcons have 29 sacks this year and are on pace for 55.

The franchise record, set back in 2004, is 48

sifting through some numbers from earlier today, michael penix and the falcons had a day to forget on 3rd down

1/5 for -4 yards on throws
3 sacks, including a strip sack recovered by indy

combining for -31 yards on 8 dropbacks for *-3.88* yards per dropback on third down

The Falcons are 50-75 since 2018; that's the seventh-worst mark in the league since the start of that season

For perspective's sake, the sad sack Raiders, a team the Falcons would hate to be lumped in with, are 49-76 in that same span

I think the thought process "we'll march down the field and score and put pressure on the Colts, which will help our defense"

They just forgot they had the Falcons offense
Why did they take the ball first in OT??

Tyler Allgeier and the pass rush did their best, but it wasn't enough to overcome

Over on the other site @marcraimondi.bsky.social noted that the Falcons are 3/29 on third downs the last three weeks.

The Falcons were already 24th in the NFL in third down conversion percentage coming into the week; Raheem Morris's vote of confidence for Zac Robinson after the game is nuts

Embarrassing third down and passing game performances. Humiliating run defense. Excruciating special teams play. The Falcons had it all in Berlin, and the miracle is that they managed to play a good Colts team close despite it all

Still, an overtime loss

Good enough to keep it close against a quality opponent, terrible enough to lose it in crushing fashion. Nobody does it like the Falcons, and I wish they'd stop

You can have all these standout performances and exciting moments. You aren’t beating good teams when the quarterback play and coaching isn’t good enough. Horrific special teams coverage adds to the pain

james pearce is the most selfish run defender ive ever seen on this team. just hunting TFLs he’s not getting and leaving his linebackers out to dry consistently. he needs to be cut back to 3rd downs only this is outrageously bad

Passing game is just a mess. Penix is missing way too many throws, lot of unforced errors, awful stuff
