Romania has a new president. Pro-EU, anti Russia, an intellectual with several medals in mathematics (International Olympics), against corruption. 🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺
The other pro-Russian and pro-MAGA candidate was very, very close.
We must stay vigilant and protect democracy 🇪🇺

If anyone is looking at the situation in Romania: it seems we are likely to have an anti-EU, pro MAGA, pro Russia president... In the words of a fated Malaysian flight: Goodnight 😢

Watch the sky tonight folks, we will see a meteor shower created from some remnants of Hailey's comet🪨🪨🪨
Best time for viewing: pre-dawn.
Go somewhere with no light pollution (outside of cities), sit in the darkness and enjoy the show. 🌠🌠🌠

Usually I don't write about politics but today there are elections in Romania.
I hope sincerely we can veer towards Europe and democracy and not fall to extremism.
Unfortunately just 6 months ago Romania was terribly close to becoming a dictatorship with voting Calin Georgescu.

Extraordinary way to put things in perspective 😊
🧵
Here is Earth's rotation realized in an unusual way: using a camera scanning the landscape of Tivoli, Namibia, Bartosz Wojczyński focused on the sky.

He created a timelapse spanning 24 h that has a focal point in the sky rather than on the ground.

What a time to be alive.
It may be that we found the first signs of extraterrestrial life 👽
This is K2-18b.

It’s a planet outside of our solar system, about 2 1/2 times the size of earth, orbiting a small red dwarf star.

The James Webb space telescope spent time studying this planet via spectroscopy and determined it has gases in its atmosphere that are only created through biology!

Did you know that on average 30,000 species per year are driven to extinction? 😱
And that number can jump up to 50,000?😰
That is 150 per day.
6 per hour. 🐦🦍🦒🐺

According to the World Animal Foundation it may be possible by 2050 that one half of all species could become extinct.😱😱😱

Do you know about Yamanaka factors?
They are a set of 4 specific genes (or transcription factors) that can reprogram⏰ adult cells into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) — cells that have the ability to develop into any cell type in the body, much like embryonic stem cells.
Like a reset button.
