Just attended the Arts and Minds Campaign at Tate Modern. What an inspiring event, with so many valuable contributions demonstrating the power of art and CRAFT and the need to get these back into schools.A commitment from SoS Lisa Nandy @dcmsgovuk.bsky.social at the end. @theartcriminal.bsky.social

It was a truly inspiring event for a really important cause. We lose more than just ‘subjects’ when all the creative subjects are sidelined, they provide lifelong skills in so many ways.
I spotted you across the room and headed there after Lisa spoke but too many people and we were both lost in a crowd. THANK YOU so much for being there. Great advocacy event! @artsandmindscampaign

Totally agree. The fact that some parents think it's ok to give their baby a 📱 if the content is 'educational' is shocking.Completely disregards how early 🧠development works, based on active interactions with the world all around them & communication!

A baby phone ban is long overdue
Why aren’t we also discussing what could be far more effective: a ban on under fives having excessive screentime?

The UK has one of the highest retirement ages in the world, the lowest pension in Europe, some of the longest working hours in Europe, one of the lowest minimum wages, the highest energy costs, the biggest profits, and the lowest taxes for the richest.

It all needs to change.

I don’t care what the critics say, personally I’m happy with what the Labour Party have achieved since July. This may lose me followers but as I do not have many on here- I won’t lose any sleep!!!! 🛌

I have campaigned on the issue of secondary ticketing for the past 15 years. Now it is time for you to have your say in the Government’s consultation ⬇

Such a good start to our new era of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Art Craft and Design in Education. Guest speakers all delivered powerful input- bringing us all together in a common aim. To advocate for education through Art.

This is arguably what is increasingly coming through at a national-level data in international testing surveys - English pupils doing relatively well, but, especially in secondary, relatively unhappy, sadly.
The pros and cons of zero tolerance can't be separated. If you create an atmosphere where all are expected to fully commit to the goals of the org (attainment) & back this up by strict rules, then you'll get a combination of high performance and low wellbeing (ratio varying in different contexts).
Perceptive, as ever, by @johnharris1969.bsky.social , featuring comments from parents on both sides of the Mossbourne argument.Perhaps, as MVPA told parents on Friday, "this review/inquiry has been driven by a broader cultural debate about discipline in schools". www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
