By the grace of God:
licensed to ply for hire: 18 years
licensed to serve the sacraments: 6 years

Keep the faith.
this is very typical of the district Council's IT usability: if you upload too many hires scans of your documents, it freezes the application process. But nowhere do they tell you what the size limit is! Time telling the Council this: 4 years.
Another funeral with burial in the churchyard enquiry is in today, while I was helping at Holiday Club in the Lord’s house. That’s now five weddings, three funerals, and two interments of ashes, currently in preparation. The biggest workload of occasional offices in more than five years.

"If I were to act wisely on this teaching, I would neither be happy because of anything in particular, nor be greatly upset by anything of any kind."

Such is the very opposite of how we are expected to react. I know this is likely hard to digest. But there is a wisdom in it.

Chapter 35 in Julian's long text in which she asks God about "a certain person that I loved" and was told that "it honors God more to contemplate him in all things than in any particular thing."
And she adds...

Closed in The Parish, the week before last, mate, all breeding signs gone. I remember when this was The New Inn, way back in the 70s. It used to have the city council’s coat of arms on its pub sign.

this looks amazing, mate!!
Definitely something I miss from living in Milwaukee. Nobody in Vermont really seems to care.

I'm greatly cheered by the resurgence of traditional hymns and looking forward already to singing Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer "it's got to be Cwm Rhondda, surely, mate, is there even any other tune for this great Welsh number?"
Another funeral service enquiry is in this afternoon. That's now five weddings, two funerals and two (separate) interments of ashes, currently in preparation. The biggest workload of occasional offices in more than five years.

yeah, this
I’ve had a meeting today on what toppings to serve with them. “Surely there’s only lemon and sugar,” I say.
I love an American style pancake but what they have got to do with pancake day 😂 Surely it should be the flat, thin, rollable kind or bust!

at the Food Larder today, there was salad cream. This very much reminds me of cycling to my grandmother’s house for tea on a Saturday afternoon in the 1970s. I haven’t had it for years.

hi Everyone: I cleaned my lenses, after this.
chucking it down again today: I’m on the door: people are still arriving fifteen minutes after the start of worship, into our Narnia themed narthex #Oxford 1046 GMT

through the trees, in the mid distance you can just about make out Magdalen College tower, the tallest building in #Oxford and the bells, pulsating through the sound of the raindrops, from the city centre churches and college chapels. More chapels than churches, I would hazard a guess 1102 GMT

Received the sacraments 1154 GMT #Oxford.
In both kinds.
From the common cup, for only the sixth time since March 2020.
Morning walk along the parish line Cowley Road to SSMJ, for Funeral Mass of probably the most redoubtable church lady I ever knew. Aged 100, sacristan of this #church for longer than I have even been alive. Ineffably sad, of course. Well done, good and faithful servant. Cx

always the same every year, almost a time honoured tradition, now “is that enough ashes, mate?” And yet somehow, it is. Loaded in the back of my taxi and on its way to the Lord’s house in the morning, ready for Holiday Club and #AshWednesday
