Lack of any meaningful enforcement by VicPol is the reason why these things continue to happen.
Yesterday I was riding in Melbourne’s St Kilda Rd bike lanes - they look good but maximise danger for cyclists at every major intersection where drivers have a green and can turn left across the bike lane without looking.

I saw a BMW SUV driver make a left into my path from the RIGHT lane.

@heathryan16.bsky.social hopefully it is a better outcome than I had in terms of jail time.
Melbourne: two cyclists hospitalised after hit-run.

Driver since arrested. Let’s see what punishment the driver gets.

Both cyclists in hospital with serious injuries and both went up over the bonnet.

ZERO EXCUSES. MUST INCLUDE JAIL TIME.

It’s going to be a great hoot having you riding along 😉
For those of you who don’t know him, Tommy rode a recumbent bike to all four corners of the Australian mainland and raised over $100,000 for The Stoke Foundation.

Tommy Quick is now 31 but suffered a stroke at the age of twelve.

In March Tommy will ride to the three corners of Tasmania.

It shows you which side the bots/AI is on… #inclusionmatters
I’ve just read ‘Nexus’ by Yuval Noah Harari talking about this exact thing. Good book!!
Posted this on Twitter/X too. Hundreds of bot/troll replies immediately descend on it with replies ranging from insulting to homophobic and worse. As expected. Mixed in with supportive real accounts, mostly international. Always fascinating.
No matter what happens with the Canadian Federal election, one thing will be true — a significant % of Canadian voters & media will have been successfully manipulated to oppose a beneficial carbon pricing approach that was either revenue-neutral or financially beneficial to almost all Canadians…1/2

We need it done in Australia if it hasn’t already be done.
More than half of Toronto drivers in a Universtiy of Toronto study didn't look for people walking or on bikes before turning right. Study used eye-tracking tech.

Increasingly deadly vehicles plus irresponsible driving equals people being injured and being killed.

Instead of just electrifying the status quo, Dutch cities’ new Zero-Emission Zones include incentives to shift freight and service transport to cargo bike, with their infrastructure making it safe and time-competitive—creating a win-win for entrepreneurs and for cities.

First ride in 2025, felt good but I need a bit more cardio before I take on Tassie, the 3 points. If you don’t know what we are doing check us out on Insta @4pointsaustralia

I echo your words @heathryan16.bsky.social
A sign in a small, quiet country town in Victoria, Australia (Benalla):
“Pedestrians give way to vehicles.”

So when I tell the world that Australia is doing everything wrong with regard to road safety, believe me. The most damg place to ride a bike, and driver insurance is OPTIONAL.

This was back in 2021 and us crossing the Nullarbor… didn’t see one of those things on that sign, did see an emu deck himself on one of the sections of the rabbit proof fence, was pretty funny, especially when the distance had beaten ya. It was about 1500km in total. All to raise the awareness!

Just listened to this book. It’s true GRIT. It’s about motivation, desire, perspective and essentially a thought to start with. Highly recommend.

Back in 2023 I was doing a massive trike/bike ride all across Australia to raise awareness about young stroke and inclusion.
This was pretty much a daily occurrence for me, except I caught it on the GoPro.
Please be safe on the roads over Christmas and it doesn’t cost a life to slow down!

In Australia do you think caravan drivers should be forced to get another license or lessons?

If you could make one change in society around disability/accessibility, what would it be?
I’m curious.

Did you know that of the 540 kids who will suffer a stroke this year in Australia, 1/3 of them will be under the age of 1?
That’s why we are Takin’ on Tassie and raising the awareness of the issue!
