If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Right now there's a petition in Australia to establish a law that would prevent organizations like "Collective Shout" from forming harassment campaigns. This is only for Australians to sign, but it's also encouraged for others to share the petition. #SaveSpeech

Petition Reason We ask for this due to rising concern that non-profit organisations, or otherwise, have been and have successfully pressured Australian and global companies into refusing service to certain groups of people, including people of sexual identity, LGBTQ+ groups. They should not be allowed to use harassment techniques to force their personal ideas and beliefs on Australian adults and others around the world who use the internet Petition Request We therefore ask the House to investigate, regulate, restrict or shut down and outlaw organisations such as "Collective Shout"; these organisation,s like the one named here, hide behind the disguise of protecting the vulnerable; however, their predatory behaviour has caused people to lose jobs and livelihood as well as people to feel unsafe in their own skin So we ask the House to look into these non-profits and expose the true harm they do behind closed doors

SCREEN ACT: -full age verification. (biometric scans, ID uploads, background checks) -Deeply unsafe for personal and data privacy. Security/data breaches are rampant, and uploading so much sensitive data to every single we site is just asking for mass ID theft. -id verification is much, much harder on small websites than larger ones, creating a chilling effect and stifling speech for anyone that isnt a massive corporation -draw comparison to UK's OSA [online safety act] and the backlash it is receiving KOSA: -creates "duty of care,” meaning that tech companies and platform giants would be required to take steps to prevent potentially harmful encounters, such as posts about eating disorders and instances of online bullying, from impacting minors. -who gets to decide what is or is not "unsafe for minors"? Especially under the current administration -it will block access to important info minors could use to keep themselves safe or advocate for themselves. Ex: sex ed. -the vague nature of the bill will almost certainly be used to target LGBT content under the guise of "protecting children"

Discord has apparently added generative AI "apps" users can use to modify any image posted in any discord server.

On by default, no way to disable them, no moderation tools.

Fuck discord, support artists (discord sure doesn't).

The stink of old meat on the wind, rotten and cloying. Something moves through the long grass. It sees you through holes in ancient skin like leather, breaking into a sprint while it mumbles and croons through the wound where a head should be.
Something like a rotten cow walks through a field of tall grass, the space where its head should be ends in a gory wound, long rods like rebar jut out in front of it. A flayed human face dangles from the longest of these.
