So we’re skipping Presidents Day this year, right?

The last four days have been my most productive writing days in months. Really struggled to hit my daily goal of 2-3k for awhile, couldn’t get into a good flow for the life of me. Imposter Syndrome didn’t help. Since Thursday though, I’ve put down 21,000 words. And most of them don’t suck!

Serious question: With Costco saying they’re gonna stick to their DEI policies, how long until the Costco Guys announce they won’t be eating there anymore for “health reasons”?

Writing tip: Why do the hard work of finishing your novel when you can simply issue a blizzard of executive orders declaring it's done and forcing everyone to buy it?

I could live to be a hundred and I’ll never spell “convenience” right the first time. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Friday Writer Thoughts:

Don't let others dictate what you should, or should not, be writing about.

Don't chase trends.

Write what inspires you.

Remember that comparison is the thief of joy.

Remember that your journey is yours alone and no one else's.

So I wrote a book that was supposed to be out this year. My publisher was expecting a manuscript next month. But then the real world decided to be an asshole and perfectly mimic the end of said book in a way that’s forced us to shelve it indefinitely. It’s the right move, I’m not mad about it.

Robert Eggers not getting a Best Director nomination is a god damn travesty.

Well, America, we had a good run. I mean, mostly. Okay, not entirely. *flips through a history book* You know what, forget I said anything.

Stay calm today, everyone. Don’t give him any more excuses to be cruel beyond the ones he’s already made up. Remember, a new hope will emerge.

If only we had a robust system of local businesses and free public institutions, where readers could browse and speak with professionals, perhaps called "booksellers" and "librarians"! If only publishers supported them with the same fervor they have for... individual artists doing their own promo?
Someday writers and publishers will all collectively learn the folly of putting all their business eggs in one platform basket!

Why is the new Wolf Man bald? He doesn’t look like a wolf man, he looks like a guy who thinks he’s a wolf. He’s a Wolf Guy. Guy Wolf?

Writing is an act of rebellion.
Writing is an act of creation.
Writing is an act of salvation.
Writing is an act of exploration.
Writing is an act of emotion.
Writing is an act of confession.
Writing is an act of speculation.
Writing is an act of reflection.
Keep writing.

#HorrorWritersChat Anyone else ever get nervous or anxious when writing the scary scenes? Like a weird sense of impending doom because you know what’s coming? I usually take it as a good thing.

I tried with Threads. I really did. Scrolling that timeline is what going insane feels like.
