My #FridayReads update... I'm nearing the end of Rebecca Zanetti's YOU CAN SCREAM. I'll likely finish it tomorrow and then write my review. I'm also near the end of Laurell K. Hamilton's BURNT OFFERINGS (audiobook). After that? More hockey smut sounds good. #books

I love this movie just for John C. McGinley as a gay gunfighter.

SLADE: The name's Slade.
JULIAN: Super. Here's an idea. Why don't you spell it out for me so I can get it right on your tombstone.

Third movie of the Thanksgiving shift marathon: Ratatouille.

Second movie of the Thanksgiving shift: My Dinner With Andre. Sure, why not?

I'm working the holiday shift and have movies playing on my tablet. Starting this Thankigiving marathon with Better Off Dead.

"Gee, I'm real sorry your mom blew up, Ricky."

I lost the Read What You Own challenge. I held out three weeks without buying a new book, which is still pretty impressive for me. A former coworker has a signing coming up for her newest book and I lost the challenge by buying a copy for my Kindle. I’ll buy the paperback at her signing. #books

My dad died on a Black Friday, so I always forget the actual day until it lands. Today makes nine years since cancer took him, after Trump was elected the first time but before he took office. If Dad were alive, he'd be calling me every day asking "Did you hear what that asshole said this time?"

I started listening to Laurell K. Hamilton's BURNT OFFERINGS. I like the first nine or ten Anita Blake novels, but I always lose interest in the series when it makes the switch to her banging monsters left and right. #books

I gave a negative review to a werewolf novel a couple months ago. Now I’m reading an ARC of an upcoming thriller from a New York Times bestselling author and thinking I was too hard on the wolf guy because they share many of the same flaws. I’d DNF this if I didn’t have to review it. #books

I stopped at the other Little Free Library and found a nice (library stamped) hardcover first edition of Tom Stoppard's ROSENCRANTZ & GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD. That was too good to pass up. #books

As JD Vance rewinds the movie so he can see the guy leap on the couch and knock the cushions off.

Marjorie Taylor Green announces she's resigning from Congress and my birthday is about a week away.... coincidence?

My #FridayReads update... I'm almost to the end of Ian Fleming's LIVE AND LET DIE (ebook) and should finish it tonight after work. I'm also within spitting distance of the end of Michael Crichton's DRAGON TEETH (audiobook). It's not great, but mediocre Crichton is still pretty good. #books

One of my favorite parts of being an adult is sometimes I'll realize I can just make a grilled cheese sandwich when I want one.

“Go in peace! I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil.”

Never mind me. I’m just sitting here at the bus stop with a few tears in my eyes after listening to the end of THE LORD OF THE RINGS. It gets me every time. #books

The bus driver stopped and asked a startled young man where he was headed.

“Uh… the mall.”

“Well climb on in! It’s too cold and dreary to be walking that far! Don’t worry about the fare. I’ll just charge you double next time.”*

And that’s why she’s my favorite driver.

*She won’t charge double.

I started reading Ian Fleming's LIVE AND LET DIE over the weekend. I was not prepared for the sheer 1950s-level of outdated racial terminology. It's a good story so far, but it's made me cringe a few times. #books

“God bless you.”
“If only He could.”

I’m watching The Brides of Dracula and it’s pretty great so far. I’ve only seen a few Hammer horror films — mostly on Svengoolie — but I think I need to find a decent checklist and start tracking down all of them on DVD over the next couple months.

I finished reading Dick Francis' COMEBACK, my 1991 pick for the #MyNovelLife reading challenge. This was a good little mystery. I had no idea there were so many ways to murder horses. This is the second Francis novel I've read, and I think I'm becoming a fan. #books

My #FridayReads update… I’m a little over halfway through Dick Francis’ COMEBACK (ebook) and should finish it this weekend. I’m still early in Michael Crichton’s DRAGON TEETH (audiobook). #books

I went from "Oh, I'll just listen to the first chapter of THE TWO TOWERS" to "Oh, I listened to all of the THE TWO TOWERS." I need to finish listening to that Michael Crichton novel before I even think of going near THE RETURN OF THE KING. #books
