Day Seven of getting rocks to spawn in my rock garden in Animal Crossing. I got the sixth and final stone, but then I smashed the western stone to put a statue at the entrance. Then the stones will have solid walls to brace on when I hit them daily with shovels for resources. #ACNH #gaming

It's not as cold outside as I thought it would be, but I realize it's supposed to get worse later on. Co-worker with all-wheel drive picked me up for the the shift. We have early deadlines, so it's mostly "Get it done ASAP and go home." Sounds good to me.

My #FridayReads update. I finished Scott Smith's A SIMPLE PLAN this morning. I'll start William & J.A. Johnstone's THE LAST RIDE OF THE DIRTY CREEK GANG on my dinner break later. I'm also about 70% of the way through the audiobook of James Clavell's SHOGUN. #books
I finished Scott Smith's A SIMPLE PLAN. It's a well-written crime thriller with characters I hated. I'm glad I read this one for #MyNovelLife but I know I'll never touch it again. There's a detachment there, the same vibe that made THE RUINS such a slog for me that I eventually DNF'd it. #books

Watched the “Motherhood” episode of E.R., directed by Quentin Tarantino. He managed to get in four or five actors from his various movies AND a long shot with Sherry Stringfield and Julianna Margulies showing their feet side-by-side. The man knows what he likes, and it can be borderline creepy.

I'm nearing the end of Scott Smith's A SIMPLE PLAN and I pretty much hate every character. I hope they all die. The only one I don't hate is the newborn, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only to be sure. #books

My Animal Crossing island is hell to navigate right now because there are mannequins every few feet to keep rocks from spawning anywhere but the ring of my rock garden. The first stone appeared this morning. Assuming I didn’t miss any spots on the island, it’s five days to spawn the rest. #ACNH

I played more Animal Crossing online with Sam. This time we did some actual decorating on one of the new slumber islands, mostly building a farm. I laughed when he came up with the idea of a sheep pen full of sheep villagers. We also made a beach murder scene. #ACNH #gaming

One of the BookTube channels I follow mentioned a site called Standard Ebooks, and now I’m obsessed. They’re in the same sphere as Project Gutenberg in free distribution of public domain ebooks, but with better covers and formatting. Not a bad way to build a classics library. #books
