YOU CAN SCREAM is a decent thriller. It's not easy jumping into a series in progress, but Rebecca Zanetti did a good job of establishing characters and their history. Laurel's half-sister would make Hannibal Lecter mutter "That bitch is crazy." I might have to read the early #books at some point.

It took forever to get my first Ancient Seed in my current Stardew Valley run, but my Ancient Fruit Wine empire is starting to come together. I love that exponential growth of one plant to two to four to eight to eventually taking over Ginger Island. #gaming #NintendoSwitch

Firestarter was my first King novel, a battered movie tie-in paperback I borrowed from my aunt that she later gave to me. I still have it.

I finished reading Dick Francis' COMEBACK, my 1991 pick for the #MyNovelLife reading challenge. This was a good little mystery. I had no idea there were so many ways to murder horses. This is the second Francis novel I've read, and I think I'm becoming a fan. #books

I didn't have trinkets unlocked at the start of the desert festival, so Alex wasn’t selling Magic Hair Gel. I had to run back to the cave to unlock them. When I got back to the desert, Alex had it in his stall. Whew. #gaming #StardewValley

Oh, man. I love those Crestwood House books. Our library had a bunch and I read them multiple times. A couple years back I made alternate iTunes library art for the Universal Monsters movies and modeled them after those books.

Nelson DeMille's "The Gold Coast" was my 1990 pick for the #MyNovelLife reading challenge. I liked it a lot. It's sad and nostalgic for a way of life that's disappearing, but still has room for optimism. "The Great Gatsby meets The Godfather," indeed. #books

I didn't expect Iida Turpeinen's "Beasts of the Sea" to knock me on my ass and make me want to cry, but here we are. It's a moving history of Steller's sea cow, a creature that was hunted to extinction within thirty years of its discovery, and how its bones carry its legacy. #books

Starting my re-read of “Frankenstein,” the version loaded up with Bernie Wrightson’s gorgeous illustrations and an introduction by Stephen King. This has been my preferred edition since high school. Looking forward to the new movie, too. #books

Sometimes you need some Lovecraftian "What the hell did I just read?" storytelling, and Drew Huff's "My Name Isn't Paul" qualifies. Wasp-like creatures mimic humans, but bloody hijinks ensue when it's time for the self-loathing narrator to breed. Bonus points for being set in West Virginia. #books

1,200 hours of Stardew Valley on Switch and I’ve reached the “Why don’t I decorate the bus stop?” stage. #gaming

I’m reading John Scalzi’s “The Shattering Peace.” I’m not sure what the Consu aliens are supposed to look like, but I always picture the Garthim from “The Dark Crystal.” Those things scared the piss out of me as a child. #books

Vacation mode is active. My sister wanted to try Stardew Valley multiplayer, so I set up a farm for us to play periodically. We went with the Four Corners map. She has the left side and I took the right. #gaming #NintendoSwitch

It's 9/25, which means I'm starting my shift with "9 to 5," as is the way of my people.

Seeing Casablanca on the big screen with an audience was like seeing it for the first time. I even got a little misty-eyed when Rick helps the young couple at the roulette wheel. I also realize I have the build for Sydney Greenstreet cosplay. Now I’m home and can play it again, Sam.

I think I'm going to take tomorrow off and go out to the mall to see Casablanca on the big screen. I've seen it a hundred times, but I've never seen it with an audience.

It’s been ages since I’ve played Skyrim. Trying it as a Wood Elf this time, since I always focus so much on sneaking around and taking things down with arrows. #gaming

My unholy trinity of Watermill Classics paperbacks from the 1980s is now complete. I love 'em, and I'll probably read all three in October. #books

"So, you've decided to lick the boots of a fascist and now people are refusing to go to your theme parks. I bet that feels bad, and it should. You don't stop bullies by giving into them. You fight them. I should know."

Kazuo Ishiguro's "The Remains of the Day" knocked me on my ass. What a sad, tragic story about a man married to his job and ideals and missing out on the possibilities of a richer life. I'm glad I chose that for the #MyNovelLife challenge. Up next for 1990 is Nelson DeMille's "Gold Coast." #books

The Watermill Classics paperback of “Frankenstein” arrived while I was at work. “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” is on its way. These are shelf trophies for nostalgia’s sake, but I do plan to work my way through the trilogy for spooky season in October. #books

I finished Philip Fracassi's "The Autumn Springs Retirement Home Massacre." My full review will come closer to the publication date, but it has a lot of fun for slasher fans. Good cast of characters, some memorable kills, and a tough Final Girl in her 70s? What's not to like? #books

First Chapter had a sidewalk sale today, and I’m pretty sure every Clive Cussler novel known to man was out there. I bought a paperback of “Raise the Titanic!” and hardcover of “Sahara” for a whopping total of $1.56. If I had the shelf space, I would’ve bought all of them. #books

Frank Herbert’s “Children of Dune” is on sale for $2, so my digital set is complete. I’ll pay full price for some new releases, but generally I put any ebooks I want on a wish list and wait for a price drop. It was a looooooooong wait for this one. Heh. #books

I’ve described my friend Sam as my Animal Crossing boyfriend since we’d hang out online all the time. Now he’s been upgraded to Stardew Valley husband. It doesn’t really change anything except he moves into my farmhouse and I think I’m legally allowed to call him “babe” in chat. #gaming
