When i read the quote i thought about about general mobilisation of 18-25yrs old. In the complete speech it is obvious that it is a rhethorical "all soldiers are the children of the nation" figure of style. (So yes, i was actually stupid)

On the other end what the actual fuck ? Is the French policy doom posting as war propaganda?
The current challenges are in the delivery of material and the enforcement of sanctions ; and the guy just go straight to the specter of a lost generation ?
For those of you who don't want to click on this article:

It was the far-right Rassemblement National and far-left La France Insoumise who complained, who have also repeatedly voted against supporting Ukraine against Russia.

Nobody else said anything, and you can imagine why.
An impassioned call from France’s new top general for mayors to prepare their constituents for possible war with Russia was met with swift condemnation from major political parties.

People that don't understand why Ukraine does not more may want to spend less time hooked up on niceties about Democracy and the West and understand that the proposition of sending the youth of an aging country to the frontline is a proposition that is going to be palatable only with more despair.
Incredible thing to say

I'm sure 'convincing men to stay and fight' is something that never occurred to the Ukrainian government, so fortunate that Berlin could instruct them on this
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to curb the flow of young Ukrainian men to Germany and ensure they stay to defend their country.

Merz tells Zelenskyy Ukrainian men should stay home and fight
The number of young Ukrainian men coming to Germany has risen sharply since Kyiv relaxed exit rules.

On a more general note people wanting to analyse relation between nations (maybe any entities) should make the assumption that it's internal politics incentive that are going to set the external policy.
(governments are going to make perhaps suboptimal move but they think play well domestically)
1. There will be a deal once key EU actors have bandwidth for it and the UK accepts that conceding on some issues gets gains on others
2. As a non-member the UK will always also be a bargaining chip in internal EU horsetrading. London moaning about that won't change it

Ironically part of the story is the Commission asking the UK not to discuss talks publicly, while another part is the usual detail haggles. And sure there is a trust problem both ways, but ultimately high level support will probably deliver the common understanding.

I do think the Trillion dollar pay package for Elon Musk is depraved ; but is not the be overblown.
It seems to me that the assumptions that would allow this package to make the man a trillionaire to be just fanciful while making the company evermore into the grip of an increasingly unreliable CEO.
