Ordinary everyday folk have this very basic idea that its simply great for everyone to do stuff thats harmful, as long as government can protect us from feeling the negative effects. Let someone else far away suffer for it! We don't even need to think of it or look at it

EU enlargement requires real commitment from Brussels, otherwise candidates will simply drift away. We saw this in Georgia, and after today's announcements I am increasingly worried that we are seeing the same in Ukraine. More thoughts below 🔗👇

There needs to be a special international statute that creates the grave offence of aiding & abetting a wanted criminal while in public office.
Just like Trump inviting the Taliban to Camp David, inviting Putin to Alaska stinks. The only legitimate reason for Putin to set foot in the U.S. is to arrest him as a war criminal and send him to The Hague for trial. Trump looks like a weakling trying to “Reset” with Russia.

As things stand, Ukraine and Europe are on the verge of being confronted with exactly the kind of Faustian deal they feared would emerge back in February. The fact that Europe hasn’t moved to block such a deal in the past six months is a failure of leadership and diplomacy.

Before its too late, Europeans really do need to take an independent aggressive military stand against the Putin-Trump axis. Europeans have been maneuvered into a corner by Trump & Putin. We must fight for our freedom. If we do not break free from the trap, the consequences will be truly terrible.

Before its too late, Europeans really do need to take an independent aggressive military stand against the Putin-Trump axis. Europeans have been maneuvered into a corner by Trump & Putin. We must fight for our freedom. If we do not break free from the trap, the consequences will be truly terrible.
1. If we are to protect the natural world, ecology has to leave its academic paradigm and become a human way of living, one that permeates human activities.
2. Ecology as a shield against a humanity that is basically living a harmful way of life, not any kind of solution and will lose the fight.

If you think of plastic as, what it actually is, oil - it suddenly becomes more insidious. But if you follow science & realise your kid is eating it with every meal - it becomes terrifying. It should be banned completely from contact with the food chain. There are substances that are safer.

If you think of plastic as, what it actually is, oil - it suddenly becomes more insidious. But if you follow science & realise your kid is eating it with every meal - it becomes terrifying. It should be banned completely from contact with the food chain. There are substances that are safer.
📌 One of the really interesting points made in the talk was that in natural societies ( non-harmful societies), there is a point where this non-dependence on externals becomes visible in the finer & upper strata of society, by the fact that those people don't need wealth & are not interested in it
6. This process of this finer inner development has nothing whatsoever to do with cars, houses, bank balances, entertainment, food or sex. That stuff is all oriented around the aim of immediate gratification on demand.
