It's been 40 years (and counting) since I last saw Friends Again live (Stirling Uni, in either 1983 or 1984; someone will know). Thrill to see them last night. Lloyd Cole playing g a blinder in support too. Review below

A Roddy Frame tour announcement would be a great birthday present
I bore/annoy my youngest daughter regularly with the tale that Roddy blessed her with a gentle (and of course entirely consensual) benediction by placing his hands on my wife’s eight-months-gone baby bump backstage at the Liquid Room in August 2005. It was a very sweet moment.
A very happy birthday to the estimable Roddy Frame. I was sent this piece recently: I've interviewed Roddy lots of times, but I think this may have been the first, for Time Out in 2005 - a little after the release of perhaps his greatest record, Surf.

Gordon is the great unsung Scottish writer. The Shoe is the best book about small town Scotland in the 1980s.
Listening to @sleafordmods.bsky.social all week took me back to Gordon Legge's books and that time and lifestyle.

This excellent 1995 piece by @teddyjamieson.bsky.social tells you why he was such an important writer.

Very sad to have confirmation that the great Martin Carthy is ailing and has likely played his last gig. It was a privilege to write the notes for this live album. His final quote here seems fitting: 'I have nothing to hide. I just think, You did it, for heaven's sake, to the best of your ability.'

Hello, my first post! I'm the writer Richard Price, with poetry collections which include Lucky Day and Late Gifts, and the novella The Island, which will be reissued this year in April. I'm also writing a memoir of the British Library where I worked as a curator of contemporary British books.
