Hello. For my newsletter, I wrote an essay about the compilation that got me into Japanese new wave. Tokyo Mobile Music is an imperfect package with a spotty history surrounding it, so I went ahead and filled in the gaps and wrote some liner notes for you myself.

And I hope Newsom can maybe read the God damn Bible
Newsom's already calling for a joining of hands with the Nazis and let atrocities be bygones.

Hey girls. It's my birthday, it's new year's eve, but most importantly: it's buddy list day. For the fourth time, here's my annual tradition where I invite my friends to take up some space on my newsletter and talk about how they spent their year. Thanks for reading. 💜

What if you could guarantee a game wouldn't be made with genAI but in order to do so you had to kill a Christian baby, how many angels dancing on the head of a pin would that take?
As the backlash to generative AI in video games continues to pick up steam heading into 2026, it'll be fascinating to see what is considered "made with generative AI." Can a dev team say they're not using AI if they're writing design docs with Copilot or using chatGPT to make schedules and budgets?

If you get the opportunity to see this in theaters then jump on it. I've never seen anything quite like it. Simultaneously a love letter to 20th century cinema and one of the best films of the 21st
Movie of the year. One of the highest effort pieces of filmmaking I’ve seen in ages. Just two hours forty minutes of being stunted on.

Look, I already mostly play games that are 10+ years old. I'm 100% willing to never spend a dime on a game that has ever been touched gen AI. I don't care if it's everywhere, I don't care if all the cool kids are doing it. It's not a hard decision.

I think we all need to be way meaner about gen AI

I will simply never buy anything I know was made with AI. the best we can do from a consumer POV is make AI shameful and embarrassing to admit to using while we wait for the machine to explode as soon as it tries to turn a profit.

Responses to "games can't tell stories as well as films" make me think people don't care about stories or games. Counterexamples I heard yesterday:

Metal Gear Solid
Red Dead Redemption
Fallout New Vegas
Portal
Dark Souls

If you think these hold up to films I'm begging you to watch better films
