I don’t know how many different ways to say that agency personnel don’t work for Elon. They don’t have to report to Elon. They report to their agency leadership, which reports to the President.

DOE's general counsel and IT offices told DOE Sec. Chris Wright that giving DOGE rep Luke Farritor IT access was a "bad idea" bc he hadn’t had a standard background investigation needed to access the department’s system, per a source. Wright granted him access anyways. www.cnn.com/2025/02/06/c...

I cannot begin to explain the confusion, uncertainty, fear, and frankly despair this is causing among those of us who work with NSF in one way or another. In a meeting today, people far senior to me (and I'm no newbie, by a long shot) were saying how this is unlike anything they've ever seen.
I don’t have a definitive source on this yet but it looks like NSF review panels have been canceled.
Sixty-some years ago, Eisenhower transformed higher education because he viewed a science education gap as the single greatest threat to national security.
This is absolutely an act of sabotage.

I cannot begin to explain the confusion, uncertainty, fear, and frankly despair this is causing among those of us who work with NSF in one way or another. In a meeting today, people far senior to me (and I'm no newbie, by a long shot) were saying how this is unlike anything they've ever seen.
