The best Memorial Day speech is only 271 words and wasn't delivered on Memorial Day, but on November 19, 1863. Read it carefully, it's the most important speech in American military history (and maybe all of American history).

@resistancerangers.bsky.social Are you aware of any groups putting together support protests for the National Parks over the 19th, or any other time soon?

4:06pm, Booker is getting loopy-tired, and yet still crushing it.

I must point out, he is repeatedly emphasizing shared experience, avoiding accusation, and focusing on underlying values of care and keeping of our fellow humans.

Voting NO on the budget CR and going to a shutdown is considered the "nuclear option". That doesn't mean it should never be used. If they don't vote NO on this, the Dems need to identify the conditions under which they WILL use this option, so they are prepared, and not caught AFTER they fall.

More information, more broadly communicated, at implementation levels is appreciated. Here's a good example, particularly in educating listeners, from the WA superintendent of schools.

While they don't have reach yet, here's an example of a group that's starting to get organized in a useful way - @resistancerangers.bsky.social have a document on the March 1 Protests for NPS (tinyurl.com/ProtectParks...) and some of the locations even have a page of talking points and useful info!

What's the color of shame? I'm thinking it really comes as a trio of colors, two being primary...

@hcrichardson.bsky.social mentioned at the end of her talk on FB today that the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence is coming up, describing it as a time to re-commit to making that true and real for everyone in a way it has never been. 1/

It seems almost unavoidable at this point that we are headed for a deep, deep recession. Just based on 200K+ federal firings & pullback of contracts, the March employment report (to be released April 4) seems certain to show bigger job losses than any month ever outside of a few in 2008-9 and 2020.

I've gotten involved in a thread on reddit (r/SeattleWA if you want to know how masochistic an idea this was) that started out with a passably not-awful discussion. But then devolved into reductionism, intellectually dishonest arguments, and schoolyard taunts. I'm @ -40 on my votes so far. 1/

Family history rears its head in strange ways some times.

My maternal grandmother fled Hungary as a child, with her parents, in the prelude to WWII.
