Former writer. Current internet hag. Rural Canadian, scared of cows. Irreverent and irrelevant.

She/her
Yeah Smith, as an Albertan I would sure like to hear your unequivocal opinion on the matter.

Quit hiding and tenderfooting the issue. Are you with Canadians or are you a separatist? Albertans would like to know. Speak up.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford asking Alberta Premier Danielle Smith "to stand up and say enough is enough" to those leading Alberta's sovereignty movement as they meet with U.S. officials, saying you're either with Canada or not with Canada.

Fuck Albertan separatists and honestly, a big middle finger to anyone who lumps every Albertan in with those losers.

I am, and always will be Canadian.

Thinking of all those school aged kids who died for the 2A only to have the President of the United States of America declare "You can't have guns. You can't walk in with guns. You just can't."

Thoughts and prayers to all the gun lovers.
Trump: "With that being said, you can't have guns. You can't walk in with guns. You just can't. You can't walk in with guns. You can't do that. But it's just a very unfortunate incident."

When I returned to university a few years ago during a midlife crisis, I took a lot of flack for choosing to study religion AND policing. Useless degrees, they said. But I wanted, NEEDED to know more about the systems used to oppress people & harm communities.

I have yet to regret my choice.

-35ml corn syrup
-35ml dish soap
-2tbs sugar

Dip a straw in & Gently blow on a flat surface

I had a convo w/my husband about dealing w/pro-authoritarian & the growing # of separatists surrounding us. It’s rather like trying to bring antivaxxers to science. They reject facts & truths. They double down. The only solution is to carve them out & starve them of your time.

Carve and starve.

It is overwhelming to be online today. As a Canadian, it feels terrible watching our American neighbours be gunned down and gaslighted by their government, the same govt that continues to threaten our country, and is idolized by AB separatists and maple MAGAts. It feels really heavy and scary.

The World Cup US location needs to be reconsidered immediately, no matter how many tickets have sold or how high demand is.

It is not safe for participants nor spectators. FIFA needs to do the right thing and Infantino needs to show some damn leadership instead of the bootlicking he has done.

Alex Pretti was a helper. His career was helping people. He spent his last moments on earth trying to help a woman.

He was murdered for it and then called a domestic terrorist by the tyrants in office.

I’m not American but I am enraged for them. Again.

Oh good. More people with guns, protecting the establishment.

What could go wrong.

Children funerals are one of life's saddest moments.

Hug the kids in your life because there is no guarantee they'll live to adulthood. Bless the people who work so hard in the medical professional to try and get as many kids to adulthood as possible. They're all saints.

Today was hard.

It's sobering to see how your neighbours, family and friends react in today's political environment. It was one thing to watch them dismiss your health & safety during the pandemic; it's entirely another to know they're gleeful as they harm and strip your rights away and then mock your tears.

As a born & raised Albertan & proud Canadian I am ping-ponging between raging at my prov govt & feeling sick knowing our fundamental rights & freedoms are being tossed aside for a political win. Canadians outside of Alberta: This will happen to you too. It's coming. This is the conservative playbook

It wasn't fake. It was edited. But Reagan really did spend a five-minute speech – an April 25, 1987, national radio address that the Reagan Library has published on YouTube – to rail against tariffs. It was a full-throated expression of support for free and fair trade.

Real life has kicked my arse these past two weeks.

Real life as in dead kids, disease, disability, aging, worst life altering decisions.

It has made politics, both Canadian and USian, unbearable and a harder pill to swallow than normal.

The joy I feel looking at a bright blue sky against a forest of yellow and orange and red leaves is undescribable. It's almost enough to erase the horrors of reality we all muck about it.

Almost.

I had two skin biopsies done yesterday, leaving me with 8 stitches. A full day of dealing with a tiny terrorist with grabby hands, I'm down to six stitches.

Take care of your skin, people. Maybe don't agree to watch angry babies afterwards, or at least until the freezing comes out.

Late night kim-chi may have been a poor choice for my middle-aged stomach that grew up on predominantly bland unflavoured povo white people food.

Worth it tho.

I will add, I went to the school to address my concerns about this discrimination and was blown off. I may indeed, be one of less than a handful who are even aware of the implications of this policy and its harm. It felt a little gaslight-y, and very dystopian.

But this shit matters.

I may be laying down my whistle & ending my journey as a volunteer (girls) basketball coach because I cannot stomach any participation in eroding women's rights. I will remind people, trans kids are STILL just KIDS.
This is literally some dystopian shit. Flagrantly contrary to the Charter, but also just plainly immoral backwater garbage. Danielle Smith has no business running a lemonade stand, let alone a province. edmontonjournal.com/news/local-n...

An enormous Great Grey owl just flew out of the woods and landed on my grass about 30 meters from me and stared at me.

It held my gaze for what felt like an eternity and then unfurled its wings and flew in front and away from me.

This, after spending all day honouring deceased children.

I've spent HOURS emailing and calling members of the AB government to address the upcoming changes to AISH that will kick ALL severely disabled people off the program until they prove they can't work or are actively dying, and I've received ONE form letter in response to my efforts.

I just CANNOT.
