This is really sad, not least for the people who worked there, but the Church Army Research Unit provided a lot of excellent research partially into fresh expression and new forms of church that was valuable to me, and for shaping the national conversation.

The first complete Chinese Bible was donated to a charity shop in Chelmsford. The charity was expecting £800 for it. It went for £56000

I’d like to recommend Chris Beckett’s 2017 novel about an American populist leader who needless picks a fight with Canada. Once stories find purchase in a groups imagination, it doesn’t matter whether they are true or not…

I’ve been struck from the Christmas readings this year about Herod and ten killing of the children. He couldn’t find Jesus to kill, so he widened his options to all boys under 2 years in the hope he’d find him.

Went to the most wonderful advent carol service at Trinity Hall this evening. Haven’t experienced one like that for a long time. The choir’s harmonies were exquisite and the sound filled the space. The organ voluntary was the Toccata from Messiaen’s Nativité du Seigneur.

Today I drove 2 hours so my 14 year old could have a date with the girl he met on our summer holiday. I took the opportunity to visit Richard III, who was rescued from under a car park in 2012.
