Spot on. The bill is mostly window dressing. Without addressing the single biggest deficiency of our democracy, this government shows their contempt for the electorate AND their Labour Party members

Too right. The main impact of this bill will be to give more people a meaningless vote as it won't represent them any better in parliament. The government must ditch First Past The Post and introduce PR before our democracy collapses into electoral chaos. #ProportionalRepresentation #PRnow
‘Representation of the People’ without Proportional representation is a joke. And not a funny one 😤
Let us at least have the ‘National Commission’ looking into upgrading our election system.

🚨 The Government publishes its Bill to reform elections tomorrow

📜 This includes votes at 16, tighter donation rules & simpler voter registration

🤦 But the 'Representation of the People Bill' doesn’t do what it says on the tin - most people still won’t be represented

Today, the government is bringing forward their landmark Representation of the People Bill. It's got plenty of good ideas, but there is a glaring omission. They're calling it the Representation of the People Bill, but it will keep the voting system that fails to represent the people. buff.ly/UfLUKhW

No wonder we keep getting governments that most of the public want gone.

"Only a fifth of the eligible electorate actually voted for the current majority government."

Under First Past the Post, that's enough for a "landslide".
