Legacy corporate new & media continues its slide into irrelevance.
Teen Vogue has shown that you can do courageous, accountability political journalism *and* get huge engagement while doing so. And they've just decided to throw that all away. This is an unbelievably grim day for journalism.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Does anyone know why Microsoft's spellcheck in Outlook has started sucking so badly? This is mostly a rhetorical question, I think I know the answer.

I'm not a fan of added tech/complexity in newer appliances but I just learned our dryer has a flow sensor to alert me of a (dangerously) blocked dryer vent. Nifty! Also - reminder to clean your dryer vent.

I failed multiple dexterity checks trying to bend & glue the photoetch shuttlebay part for my 1/537 #Reliant Miranda Class ship build, so I gave up and modeled a much more accurate part. I think I can make little clear inserts for the light strips as well. #Miniatures

iRobot's software & mapping is so bad that our 3 year old Braava is effectively useless. It leaves its dock, does 15 wheelies in place (why??), make a b-line to a corner nook where it gets stuck, and upon being placed back in the center of the room, just gives up and returns to its dock.

Fun thing about microbursts & monsoons in Tucson is you discover all of your roof leaks at once. We have two. Maybe re-sealing hvac ductwork just something that has to be done yearly.

My wife is partaking in a D&D one shot at a work retreat, and as the Spouse With a 3D Printer™ I made everyone’s hero forge characters. Removing the supports took awhile so I could only do a base coat, but definitely appreciate the urge to paint and detail these things. Maybe soon… #miniatures

Proud of my district.
Democrat Adelita Grijalva has easily won the special election for #AZ07, but her margin of victory may not be known for several days in a state where much of the vote is cast before E-Day. She leads 71-28 with AP estimating 80% counted: Harris carried this Tucson-based district by a 60-38 margin.

Apple's Liquid Glass design system feels like a Windowblinds/Stardock Win XP theme I would have downloaded from DeviantArt back in 2004 and used for a week before moving on. It's kind of cool but there's no way I won't get tired of it.

This is buried at the end of Elizabeth's thread but it is such a key point: "people want their candidates to fight for them, not step on their necks trying to reach across the aisle."
Brad Lander's comment during the NYC primary that people view Dems as either "fight" or "fold" people is the best characterization of how lose -- this is a fold strategy, and people want their candidates to fight for them, not step on their necks trying to reach across the aisle.

The free speech activist who built a list of professors he worked to get fired for their speech must be celebrated for his support of free speech, and anyone who quotes his speech accurately in context will be fired and/or face state punishment by the champions of free speech, do I have that right?

Upper saucer photoetch pieces have been installed on the 1/537 Reliant with an initial putty/sanding pass, then sprayed with black primer to check my work (it's bad, lol). I'll do another pass and need to use a finer grain sandpaper.

Too bad the GOP effectively criminalized studying how information moves online and news orgs laid off and demonized all the reporters who covered the burgeoning online accelerationist performative death cults. All of that work was somehow "censorship" that needed to be stopped. Now we're here.
