Andrew Oldham from Hopwood Hall College is running for the North West NEC seat. He has the backing of his branch and my support as well. They've had some incredible wins at Hopwood and it's all down to enthusiastic reps like Andrew who are in touch with the needs of their branch.

Nigel Farage has said he's “not making any money as a result of being an MP”.

MP's salary is £94k, putting him in the top 5% of earners.

Meanwhile he votes to keep workers on exploitative zero-hours contracts and denies them sick pay.

Absolutely despicable behaviour from an employer! Shame on you Sheffield!
Well that’s me locked out. No pay for the foreseeable future, all because I refuse to reschedule lost teaching, for which I have already lost pay as part of the strike. Please donate to support @sheffielducu.bsky.social members like me at www.gofundme.com/f/heubvb-sup...

2 days deep into an OFSTED inspection under the new framework. My class had a visit this morning - several targeted questions about inclusion. They picked a good class, every single learner in the room had inclusion criteria (many of them had several). 1.5 more days to go 🙌😅

Several problems with this. Firstly, as a society we are persecuting trans people for seeking gender affirming care but making huge adverts to sell it to cis people. Secondly, why is this worded as though it's aimed at the wife/gf? Like it's her duty to get him checked out? 🤮🤮🤮 So very gross.

We've written a motion to open up the nomination process to UCU's advisory equality standing committees, which is long overdue. This would bring it in line with that for our decision-making NEC. More details of the process and our reasons at the link. #UCU #UKHE

UCU members are on strike today in 25 colleges across the UK.

Their starting salaries are just above minimum wage and well below their equivalents in schools and 6th form colleges.

This has to change. Let our members know you back them.
