We must not be silent or silenced. We all need to speak up against crimes of humanity – past or present. And reject despair and apathy. Through sharing stories we strengthen global solidarity, and plot better futures.

They can rescind my award, take away my prize money, rip up the contract but I was still one of two winners of the prestigious Blak & Write Fellowship for 2025. A panel of peers read my manuscript, and selected my work as worthy of winning. Haters can not rob me of Blak joy

Rachel Perkins said the lack of recognition was “deeply hurtful”.

“My family were run down by men on horseback with Snider repeater rifles and murdered … trying to defend their families and their country [but they] do not get recognition in the war memorial.”

Time for treaty talks in 'Victoria' focusing on earlier help as Elders age, support for language revitalisation and a cultural fire authority. Who would say no to that? Moving on from the Voice referendum that 'sucked the oxygen out of already muddy waters, creating ripples of doubt and division.'
The fight for Treaty in Victoria
Following the defeat of the Voice, the Treaty negotiations that began in Victoria this week represent the last active process to give First Nations people agency over the decisions that affect them.
