Backerkit has the audacity to claim it won't notify me if my profile isn't fully filled out. LYING LIARS. But I hate an incomplete list so I finished it anyway. With spite. I took a screenshot of their generic empty avatar icon and uploaded that. And I said as my bio, "I don't want to write a bio."

Two little asshole dogs got into one of the unpacked boxes with pantry supplies. I found them gorging on the dry oatmeal. They'd also opened the flour. Could be worse.

Both their snouts were powdered in white dust like they were snorting cocaine

Zephyr, you are not an impoverished orphan on the streets who is starving to death. You are a spoiled little dog who was JUST fed. Stop stealing the trash to lick the sides of used plasticware desperately, as though this is your only sustenance.

One of my fav things to do while doom-scrolling anti-Israel comments is to spot incorrect Palestinian flags. It's like the license plate game but they deny your right to exist. So far: Jordan, Sudan of course, and just once, a beautiful Mexican flag. 🇲🇽

*plastic plate falls between the crack of the bed and wall*
ME: I just don't even care anymore. You go there and you set up your new home underneath my bed and you fuck off. I'm going to sleep.

Apparently elsewhere on social media, writers are supposed to consider other authors are their competition. No, that's really not the way things work. We encourage and support each other in this challenging business and recommend each others' books because a rising tide lifts all the boats.

Nearly everyone around me here in America is speaking English and I just don't know what to do with that; it's weirding me out and a bit overwhelming. I'm so used to tuning out the four or five foreign languages around me, most of which I can't understand. I understand everything here. It feels off.

Finally experiencing Des Moines, the shadow Washingtonian counterpart of Real Des Moines, which is located properly in Iowa (and also the hallowed place of my birth). Coming here is incidental to my Seattle travels (the hotel is here) and yet also a lifelong dream fulfilled.

I just cycled through nine different layers in Photoshop, trying and failing with each one to erase what ended up being a smudge on my laptop screen.

The Photoshop eraser did not work but rubbing my thumb across the screen did.

Huge pet peeve: Rewatching yet another cover of Waving Through a Window from Evan Hansen (as one does) & they think it's a showpiece instead of a deeply anxious kid's 'I Want' song. If you don't legit have a panic attack in the "When you're falling in a forest" bridge, you've failed the assignment.

My dogs understand "What does <dog name> want?" They convey what they want & usually get it, for being good communicators. Except now Zephyr has expressed he wants to lick my dinner bowl, steal the dog treats, and (finally one I can accommodate) get snuggles. Points for honesty, I guess?

In the sum total of all television shows and movies, 57% of all babies that need names end up being called Hope. And in the case of Madam President, also a dog. #truefacts #noevidence #trueanyway

Three-hour layover plans in San Francisco next week: get through customs + eat Pinkberry for the first time in years.

Sure the VR world has a lot of possibilities for gaming, interaction, and knowledge building, but will my every step have glittery swirls ✨or flower streams 🌺 trailing behind me, like an operating system's gawdy cursor mod? Show me the hero developer who codes that and I will bake them some pie. 🥧 💙

Of course 1wk after canceling my Max subscription—hadn’t used it in months—I want to rewatch Singin’ in the Rain. Only available on Max! $14.99 to buy. Irritated 71yr-old film costs this much + not in public domain for 24yrs. Considered whether better to pay $14.99 or wait 24yrs so it is cheaper.

My dog Sigma has once again foiled my plan to fall asleep because he is growling at his own reflection in the wardrobe door. And he is pretending he is an intimidating beast instead of a little boy who loves snuggles and licking my wrist for 30 minutes straight.

Sure, running from zombies is fun but the main reason I keep coming back to Zombies Run is because I am starved for Sam Yao's slightest regard. This perfect, fictional being tosses out compliments and recognition so casually and sweetly and I live for them.
