As with the Head Start freeze earlier this year, the cuts to Medicaid that aren’t written as “cuts to Medicaid,” etc:

It’s crucial to focus on what gutting the Dept of Ed has already done and will do—not on the empty promise that technically no funds or services are cut.
As I explained last week in @us.theconversation.com based on earlier reported drafts, this “order” is mostly a press release with Trump’s signature on it

The immediate threat to kids and families are the layoffs and potential holdups in crucial funding/services

Every college and university in the United States should take notice of the real lesson here. It's not to give in.

The lesson is that with this crew, if you cave, they take it as a sign of weakness. When a sheep is cornered by the wolf, it's not a great move to lie down and show the belly.
I’m told this is a real letter. It basically says, “We’ll destroy Columbia unless you destroy it first.”

Anyone who is using IES-facilitated data to criticize the Education Department today really needs to acknowledge that the entire research arm that has helped form the basis of their opinions about the federal role in schools has just been decimated, raising serious questions about progress tracking.

In the town of Oxford, MD, NOAA is the largest employer. Without the Cooperative Oxford Lab, the town ceases to exist.

NOAA installed a tide gauge for the town so they can better respond to nuisance flooding.
