Thank you, @supriya.bsky.social, for writing this column. Greenland is a stepping stone and a test of precedent. If the US breaks the consent-based 1951 Greenland treaty with Denmark and gets away with it, it will surely assume it can do the same with Canada.

Asked by reporters if the PM had anything to add to Solomon’s statement, the PMO stated it had nothing to add and that Solomon’s statement stood for itself. So: The world’s richest man and noted Trump supporter runs a social media platform that is pumping out CSAM and non-consensual intimate images of women, and in response what we get from the Canadian government is a single tweet posted in the middle of the night. By refusing to name Musk, X or Grok in Minister Solomon’s post condemning sexualized deepfakes, while also posting in the middle of the night on a weekend to deny rumours about the Canadian government working with allies to ban X, the Canadian government is once again signalling that they are either unwilling or unable to say or do anything that will actually help keep Canada’s “elbows up” with respect to the US.
