i feel like i mostly have talked shit on the oversaturation of some queer media spheres with self-proclaimed toxicity, problematic/messy themes, etc but honestly so much of the problem imo is that ppl think there’s some Correct Way To Write Queerness, and i guess this is the other end of the axis
The great folly of video essays is they teach people what terms mean and why certain social forces are bad but a lot of them lack the academic rigour to like put these in their context
The Hays Code wasn't bad because queer characters were evil or died. It's bad because that's ALL they could be

pay them a genuine compliment about something. look up something they're doing and engage with them about it with enthusiasm. it's worth more than any of that shit

tbh as much as official rereleases are good for accessibility, I also feel like a lot of people just won't play games if they don't have official versions and that's not great for culture. Everyone should be downloading random ROMs until they find that special one that breaks their brain wide open.

I must’ve been a postdoc at MIT or a new-ish engineering professor when I first heard the story of how Ben Barre overheard colleagues talking about how his research was so much better than his ‘sister’ Barbara’s.
We're disappointed to see Ben Barres's powerful book "The Autobiography of a Transgender Scientist" among the ~400 titles removed from the Naval Academy Library. Needless to say, we're proud to have published his book and will keep it — and his memory — alive.
