📚 Kidlit Author 💚 Hollins Alumna- MFA Children's Literature ✨ SCBWI Member ✏️ Elementary Educator 🪴 Nature Lover 🥰 Mama to Margot 🩷
Stumbled across this gorgeous book at the library. Written by Oriane Smith and beautifully illustrated by Alice Gravier, it’s a celebration of small moments. The artwork on the left shows the view from a child’s eyes, while the right panel shows the world from a squirrel’s perspective. #kidlit #PB

“I am Scary” has been a hit in our house- Margot loves the illustrations, the yappy dog, roaring along with the monster, and… I’m pretty sure this book taught her the word “hug” and led to her now intentionally hugging us! 🥺 #kidlit #booksforbabies #boardbook @elisegravel.bsky.social

It’s been a while since I’ve posted! I want to get back to sharing some #kidlit books in this space. I’ll start with what my one year old has been loving lately- books that feature photos of babies and include rhyming.

Here are two that she requests over and over again!

@soontornvat.bsky.social Christina Soontornvat came to my school today. Always an inspiration to hear from authors and see they ways they interact with kids. The students love her many books and were so excited to meet her (as was I!) #kidlit #booksky

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights has announced that it is arbitrarily dismissing student and parent complaints arising out of public schools’ documented acts of censorship and discrimination.
Our response: Book bans are real.

In honor of the awards being announced today, I’ve been admiring The Last Cuentista by Donna Barba Higuera on my bookshelf. I think this has to be one of my favorite book covers of all time! The artwork, by Raxenne Maniquiz, is stunning. Do you have a #kidlit book cover that you love? 💙 📚

When people ask if I’m going “home” for Christmas… I understand the sentiment, but the only place I consider home is the safe, peaceful space I’ve created with my husband, daughter, and cats. There is no other home to go to. 💕 🏠

Almost 6 months into motherhood and just experienced the most wonderful night of sleep! 😴

My daughter fell asleep within minutes of starting our bedtime routine and didn’t wake at all in the night. 🌙 I don’t know what magic was happening here, but thank you, universe!!! ✨
