My latest journal article is a labour of love. As an #Irish researcher living in England, I am frustrated when reports on #ethnic #inequalities leave out the Irish. I reviewed 20 years of literature and found that the Irish in Britain are still disadvantaged in mental health, mortality, and suicide.

I am not that surprised that more women quit academic publishing than men- this chimes with data showing fewer women get their papers published, grants funded if they lead them and that more women get pushed into support roles. We do need to do more to support and mentor female staff. 🧪

Barriers to care for refugees and migrants with diabetes
Each year, an estimated 17 million people die from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) before the age of 70 years; 86% of these deaths occur in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs).1 Cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, cancer, and complications of these conditions, account for most NCD-related morbidity and mortality.2 Populations forcibly displaced by humanitarian crises, including refugees and migrants, face disproportionately high risks of developing NCDs or worsening NCD complications and mortality.
