Well, yes. It should be your problem. You're the expert on teaching, and you're responsible for teaching. It's what we pay you to do. And sometimes, the world changes in ways that impacts the way you teach. Math teachers complained about calculators, nevertheless
If someone says to you, "what are you doing about students' use of AI?" ask them, "do you think that this should be my problem? How good do you think my response can be? Should it not be up to legislators & administrators to defend against a commercial industry's attack on your child's education?"

It was a freeing day when I gave myself permission to buy books, because having a stocked bookshelf is aesthetically pleasing and that's reason enough

I continue to think LLMs are absurdly powerful for learning, and I'm using them more often for it.

The problem is that a lot of people don't have solid metacognitive skills around epistemics and autodidactism.

You've got to have a handle on what you know, how you learn, and if you're learning.

Internalizing "You don't need to reply to everyone you disagree with" has made BS and X much more pleasant to use

Having now read Twilight book 1, I will bravely say: It's unironically entertaining, at times well-written, and overall not a bad book, especially not worth the sneers it routinely gets.

I've long lurked but not posted/replied much on whatever the term is for X and BlueSky, and after replying on some stuff yesterday, logging off for a couple hours and coming back to dozens of notifications, yeah. I see the appeal

I enthusiastically aid and abet terrorism.
JUST IN: Deputy Assistant to the President and "Counterterrorism Czar" Sebastian Gorka says anyone advocating for due process for Kilmar Abrego Garcia could be viewed as "aiding and abetting a terrorist" and be federally charged. (h/t Philip Germain)

@kenwhite.bsky.social As always, I dig the Serious Trouble episodes, but what's with the vegan jokes? Any niche movement toward moral progress is going have some folks that get under other folks' skin; what's different between that and right-wing GriftTube mocking "obnoxious" BLM folks?

Yes this.

In 2021, some US Hindu groups filed a Title VI complaint against UPenn charging that Hindu students were unsafe on campus. Why? Bcuz Penn was 1 of several sponsors of an online academic conference called Dismantling Global Hindutva that sought to discuss the threat of Hindu nationalism./1
feeling unsafe and being unsafe are not the same thing
