‘A delightful story of midlife chaos and creative ambition… witty and compassionate.’ A cracking five star review of A Novel Solution. This is why I write!
When a jobless, lovelorn woman decides to reinvent herself as a novelist, hilarity and hard truths collide in this sharp British comedy about creativity, confidence, and starting over. #BookReview #Women’sFiction #IndieBooks #AmReading #ReaderViews buff.ly/nASNOmu

Always.
A wild rough draft appears!

In today's #WritingabtWriting I turned last week's outline into text and discovered new details in the writing. How often do you discover something totally unexpected about your story in your first draft?

Rough draft time. My goal at this stage is to get words on paper, whether that's in a notebook or digitally.

Is it wrong to love your own first lines? After a decent amount of time, of course.
For today’s #FirstLineFriday we’re going back to the beginning with a quote from our very first short story anthology, #TakingLiberties.

Another potentially good book that lacks editing.
I found this to be, at once, valuable and mystifying. It’s deeply researched, which is its great virtue, while also being digressive, repetitive, moving, ambitious and pretentious, as well as littered with typos and grammatical howlers.

Ha ha! Gotcha AI!
Helpful insight under post for my @womenwritersnet.bsky.social talk.
Look, I couldn’t resist ok, and oh boy, fuckenada. If tech bros are going to/already rule the world, it’s going to turn extremely comedic. If the internet is dead, it’s also dead funny.

I paid £4.65 for a flat white the other day. You could get (almost) two-and-a-half fantastic ebooks from @SRLPublishing for that! I respectfully suggest you do so. But hurry.

And now there’s what amounts to an ad for the film in the letters section of @radiotimes.bsky.social
Anyone else a bit fed up with seeing ads for The Thursday Murder Club? It's everywhere, even the cover of Radio Times. Good luck to him, but where's the marketing budget for us other writers? Off now to change my name to Richard. Seemed to work for them.

Too good to be true?! Not always. My funny fiction A Novel Solution is available for just £1.56. For a book that’s been compared to work by Waugh and Townsend! For a book Lissa Evans called ‘clever’! Treat yourself while you can. #funnyfiction #bargainbooks

Two killer one-liners came to me recently, one while gardening, the other early morning when half awake. Brilliant they were. Both now completely forgotten. The world is deprived. Note to self. Must make notes.
