The final game that I got during early black Friday deals arrived. I forgot about this game completely.
The 1987 film is my all-time favorite so I got the first game, and enjoyed it, but thought this was just dlc. Guess they made it a stand alone like XC2 Torna. #blutoid #robocop

Couple more games. Chronicles of the Wolf is a Castlevania clone, and so far a pretty good one. I got it for $15 with Hotel Barcelona--stay away from that one, yikes.

The Toaplan collection is an import, and it's really good. Great selection of games! #blutoid
Very happy with this Toaplan collection. Excellent group of games and they run pretty great, with all the bells and whistles: save states, rewind, dip switches, etc. It's a fantastic collection. Chronicles of the Wolf feels more like Rhondo of Blood, but with more of the QoL stuff that came with Symphony of the Night. Haven't played enough to really judge it though. Realistically, I'm not expecting it to be on the level of either of those games though. Excellent group of games. They're the arcade versions (all variations) so it doesn't have the infamous 'Engrish' from the Euro Megadrive port. You know the line, "all your base are belong to us".

Wow, Hotel Barcelona is really bad.
I know people are hyperbolic and say things like, "this could run on PS3", yada yada. Well, this literally could.
The game defaults to 1080p because 4k makes the framerate and input lag bonkers bad.
It's held together by duct tape and childhood dreams. #blutoid
Some of the art is great though. Like this image, which is the cover art. It's really janky. Even on the lower settings, input lag is rough. It's soooooo much worse if you set it to 4k. Like over a full second before the character reacts bad.

Didn't want to buy a new controller, but my 5 year old day 1 controller began to drift wildly. At least it's pretty, ha.

Guess I've been lucky though, it was the first controller I've ever had a drift issue with. Surprisingly none of my Joycons or other controllers ever experienced it.

Guess it'll be Friday before I finish NG4. Didn't play yesterday, but before I'd get random stutter steps to the left. It was rare and I couldn't reproduce at will so I didn't think much of it.
By the end of Chapter 17 Ryu was running in circles nonstop, lol.

Kinda janky, but I loved it. I love the entire series. The choose your own adventure style gameplay was amazing to me. I'd flip my shit for a new game. We got a new Tokyo Extreme Racer (if this was a Dreamcast thing, it would be on that list, for sure) so anything is possible. The newer ps4 re-release is definitely better, with cleaner sprites and it was re-balanced, but I absolutely adore this game. It might not be VanillaWares best, but it's absolutely my favorite from them. No idea how many hours I put into this? Combined with the original release of 4... it's got to be a couple thousand. One of the greatest fighting games ever released imo. It's Gradius (the NES version was my gateway drug into horizontal shmups) and Treasure (my personal favorite developer of all time). Match made in heaven. Nothing else to say.

Night Striker Gear just released out of nowhere, at least on Steam. It's not showing on the eshop yet though.
It's from M2 ShotTriggers and directed by Treasure vet Hiroshi Iuchi (director of Radiant Silvergun, Ikaruga, Gradius V, etc.).

So, I'm very conflicted with Ninja Gaiden 4 and I'm just not going to post about it anymore until I've fully completed it.

I'm very happy it exists, but completely baffled by some design decisions... absolutely nothing to do with difficulty btw.

Why is there a Sonic Adventure style grind rail section (it happens multiple times)? Look at this background. WTF is this!? How is this Ninja Gaiden? It's literally that stupid phone game where you jump between 3 different rails to avoid trains or whatever. It's unbelievably lazy, and completely antithetical to NG design imo. There's at least some eye candy, I guess, ha. The combat is really solid. It's basically everything else that I'm questioning. This is an obviously low budget game. If this is AAA then Sifu is easily AAAA. Seriously, NG2 on the 360 has nicer looking environments... that actually make sense 🤷🏻‍♂️

We are back ninjas! I've only played a short bit, but the most important aspect of a 3D NG game, the 'feel', is spot on.
It feels just like the previous games, compared to a Bayonetta or something else, and is instantly recognizable.
All moves work just like before. So far, so good. 🥷 #blutoid
We are back baby!!! Yakumo looks like he's late for a rave/Halloween party, but he controls just like Ryu. Definitely seems like a Platinum design influence with the new characters. I vigorously shook the controller, but to no avail. No jiggle. Ha Welcome back Ryu. RIP Tomonobu Itagaki. It's bittersweet.

Completed my first run in Absolum with Galandra.
The build I had by the end was completely unstoppable. Literally too much to explain without multiple posts. I was melting everyone.
Looks like there's a decent amount of stuff to unlock in new runs as well. Bet it's super fun with a few friends.

Beat the first 2 Fear runs in Hades 2--my hands hurt now (thanks rheumatoid arthritis).
You have to assign negative buffs like, enemies hit 20% harder, or faster, or there are just more of them, yada yada.
The Chronos run was tough, even with my preferred weapon. I think I'm good now, ha #blutoid
It shows 0% in this image (not my pic) because it hasn't been selected. There are 3 levels to each fear/nightmare thingy. The first point would be +20% damage from every enemy. It compounds with each additional point. This pic also show 32 points needed--its obviously the 3rd run, but HELL NO, lol. At least for now, Im stepping away.

Luckily, I love shmups, but the obvious other reason to turn the screen... a piece of plastic cannot fix.
If Nintendo sold a stupid 3d printed attachment, and added DS games to their library... GOLD!
It's already worth a few times what the $30 Gamepass offers, imo.

I still use my Switch OLED regularly... also, the FlipGrip is awesome! I've had, and used it, since release. It's fantastic!!
Obviously doesn't work on Switch2, but the screen isn't as good--I'd rather play Shmups/STG's on the OLED anyway, with my preferred joycon replacement.

Finally get to play Earthion.
Guess I'll take a break from Absolum, which I'm having a really good time with. Reminds me of Dragons Crown, but with the roguelite mechanics. Starts slow, but quickly opens up when you unlock the 2 other characters and some permanent buffs

Been waiting for this for a while. Old school Genesis/MegaDrive STG action. It's getting an actual Genesis physical cartridge next year. Playing this just reminds me that we need a real Golden Axe sequel. I'd prefer a different art style for that though. So far this has been a good time. I've done 5-6 runs (first two were pretty short) and it does a great job of giving small permanent buffs that immediately help the player move farther. There are a bunch of branching paths and secret areas that keep new runs fresh... at least that's my feeling now. We'll see if it holds up throughout.

Rolled credits on Hades2. Apparently I got the true ending. I didn't look up anything during my playthrough, so I'm not sure what I could've done different? I'll probably check out a YouTube video, or two, and figure that out. I know there's after game stuff, but it's time for Absolum now #blutoid
Great game! At least a 9 out of 10 for me. I will definitely come back and grind the end game stuff. Absolutely worth every bit of its $30 price tag imo. Hell, Im still buying the $50 physical in November. For $80 (digital and physical) total, I've already put more time in this than MarioKart World. Overflowing with content, if you're into the gameplay, at least.
