My hot take on statistics lingo:
It should be a "casual claim," not a "causal claim."

I hope everyone knows that it's very easy for any social content platform, including Bluesky, to be a misery machine and that if you aren't intentional about it, they will absolutely decrease the positive impact you have on the world while making you less happy.

Pope Francis: “As long as the problems of the poor are not radically resolved by rejecting the absolute autonomy of markets & financial speculation and by attacking the structural causes of inequality, no solution will be found for the world’s problems or to any problems.”
Just months after he became the head of the Catholic Church in 2013, Pope Francis condemned the “new tyranny” of unfettered capitalism and the “idolatry of money.”
The Pope Who Decried the Savage Inequalities of Billionaire-Class Capitalism
Pope Francis, who has died at 88, fought for economic justice with a consistency that distinguished him from the elites of his time.

The US tourism industry once brought in billions and supported thousands of jobs. But Trump’s policies are making us a nation travelers avoid, fearing detention. Today, the markets sank again, billions more gone. Hard to see how this is “winning.” From where I stand, it feels a lot like losing.

Hell yeah.

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

The Trump-Musk war against workers continues. Last night, Trump issued a blatantly illegal executive order essentially destroying AFGE & NTEU, the unions representing federal employees.

The Oligarchs don’t like unions. We do. Let’s stand together against this assault on workers.

We will not be distracted.
We will not be discouraged.
We’ve got our eyes on the prize.

And we will build the prosperous, free nation for all that we deserve.

The time to organize is now.

Trump berates Zelensky, the leader of a democratic country courageously fighting Russian imperialism, while he allies himself with Putin, a dictator who started the bloodiest European war in 80 years.

Sorry, President Trump. We believe in democracy, not authoritarianism.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Understanding that people show love differently is very important with dating. Just because one man shows love by buying thoughtful gifts but another one shows love by quality time and words of affirmation, doesn’t mean it’s less love available in the latter. It’s just a different approach.
