I make art sometimes.

Ooh there's some thunder and lightning in the distance. Haven't heard that in a while. I would enjoy it if I didn't know the rain that's coming with it is causing flooding in nearby towns.

The travel nerves and something I ate on Monday gave messed up my stomach, so I spent all of the 24th fighting off nausea and the worst heartburn I've had in years. Merry Christmaaaah...

Once again, I wasn't able to fall asleep in the 9+hour long flight to the UK. I have become a zombie and there's one more packed flight to suffer through.

Pfffhaha our plane is so delayed. Previous landing aircraft had tech problems so that pushed our departure, then we got told the plane is overbooked and they need volunteers to take a different flight.

"concept artists can experiment with AI to make their lives easi-"

wrong

I smack you with Claire Hummel's immaculate and detailed understanding of costume design, which she got by studying historical references, which made her strong, which you will not become by relying on AI

get good

Do you work in Affinity Publisher? Would you like some freelance work, or to screen share with me and show me how to fix things? I've got a bunch of notes from the printer that are above my pay grade (£0) and am open to throwing a little money at the problem to make it go away.

NEW VID! In the 17th century, England's Puritan-headed Parliament effectively cancelled Christmas, harassing and jailing anyone trying to make the season merry and bright. Riots ensued in places like London and Canterbury, and things got wild. Come learn with me! Link below

Sorry I think using AI for placeholders is also bad
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I know you only care about finished art but placeholder art also needs to be made by a human being who also needs to be paid for that

But placeholder midjourney slop cuts that artist out

I was feeling very lonely and stressed the past few months, but then I sat down to write some Christmas cards for friends and boy oh howdy, I've had to stop several times to wipe off snot and tears in the last two hours (listening to Tchaikovsky at the same time probably doesn't help)

Welp, the prints came out awful. Time to tweak the ever living shit out of this image and try again before the cut-off time
trying to get stuff printed last minute during this season is a bigger source of stress I didn't anticipate but I only have my lack of time management skills to blame hhhhhhnng

I think the fundamental gap here is that non-creative people think that creative people make things for the end product, when in fact it’s the act of creation and not the end point that makes it worthwhile.
I have grown to believe that excessive wealth does something to your brain that is analogous to a serious head injury

This used to be a frustrating but workable career plan. Never making a thing, but earning a living in development. But now they don’t make the thing, AND don’t pay you to develop the doomed show either. You might as well make your own thing. If they don’t pay anyway, just make stuff.
Anyone who’s ever made a total camel and then watched it die on submission anyway as they beat their brains out trying to please an anonymous decision maker and a theoretical audience will know exactly what I mean. Freedom is freedom.
