For years I've run StoryADayRedux in September because I didn't want to step on the November's noveling toes. But maybe this year it won't matter so much? What do you think? StoryADay November, for those of you who couldn't make May happen (or want to do it all again)? storyaday.org/signup

So much great info about writing short fiction in @storyaday.bsky.social #StoryADay posts! I am writing SUPER short stories (some only a few sentences 😁) away from the limelight (not posting). I'm late starting but that's ok.

Who else is going to jump in late with me?
Wondering what StoryADay November is all about? I hopped onto YouTube earlier to talk about it. (All the essentials in under 3 mins, then me--enthusing--for another 8!) www.youtube.com/watch?v=sE9J...

What should I read, next? I'm looking for my 'lighter read' (I have several 'serious' books on the go). I like a strong narrative voice; sci-fi but not fantasy; mystery but not horror; literary as long as its weird. (recently enjoyed books are in the thread). Bonus points for chuckles.

As a former journalist myself, I found this essay about craft and work by Lisa Thornton @thorntonforreal.bsky.social so fascinating. Plus I love reading about writers’ jobs.

The challenge of flash fiction is, of course, to pick the right words to tell a complete story, since the writer is allowed so few.

Is it just me, or is anyone else ENRAGED by those corporate-mandated scripts from support agents like "I'm very sorry to hear that. We understand how important it is..."? Just sound professional and competent, not fake-friendly. A simple "Got it. Checking for you." would make me SO happy.
