What are your favorite local places that offer gift certificates? Particularly non-restaurant places?

My family is asking for Christmas gifts and I'm at a loss. I loveeee experiences like classes and supporting local.

Do any of our small scale coffee places do giftcards?

Friend sees @thewaroncars.bsky.social sticker in Columbus and asks "what's that all about"

Me: it's a podcast. And a book. Really, it's a movement!

In a shocking turn of events, I have found myself at a Linkin Park-themed sapphic burlesque show.

And surprise, the venue is allegedly very haunted.

Also fun fact: my grad school bf lived above this bar!

When bands go on tour, do they take a printer for the setlists or does some guy go to the public library for them in each town?

I'm on a trip to Ohio to see some friends and I opened Bluesky and it asked me to verify I'm over 18 because I'm logged in in a new area?

I'll be at a Karaoke Halloween party this evening and I'd love some requests. Specifically halloween themed tunes.

I'll be dressed as Guy Fieri so I'm down to do a cover of Funky Town (as Flavortown).

Already mentioned: Thriller, Monster Mash, Werewolf of London, and Superstition

I actually love hearing other languages. There are so many of them and they’re beautiful.

Getting mad about it is a skill issue. And to be clear, that skill is empathy.

Did you know the average American taxpayer pays about $32 a year to provide SNAP benefits?

My latte this morning was $8. For the equivalent of 4 lattes a year, my taxes help a neighbor feed themselves and their children.

Maybe I'm soooooo woke and awful, but I'm happy to give $32 each year.

Omg I got invited to the Boy Aquarium tomorrow (Minnesota Wild) and I've never been, please give me the crash course on our boys.

(I'm a PWHL gal, I know the game, but I'm not on a first name basis with our men's team)

Ugh I have Taylor Swift album thoughts.

You know that mean girl from high school who became a nurse and has three sons with weird names and goes on and on about her "hubby"?

This album was written for her. And that's fine!

But I'm happily taking recommendations for albums that are the opposite.

Car free life, nearing end of month 6 update:

Current estimated savings: $1500ish (gas, insurance, oil change, parking fees)

But I've also gained so much joy and ease in my day to day travels. I walk or bike almost every day, I'm more confident using the bus for multiple errands, just happier.

We're interviewing a DNR fish expert tomorrow on the podcast!

What's your burning questions regarding fisheries, hatcheries, walleye, trouts and more?

If you can, consider donating blood/platelets/plasma.

I was a longtime plasma donor and every now and again I would get an update/thank you from a patient or care team.

It really does make a difference.
Reminder - There was a call for anyone who could to go donate blood in the Twin Cities as there was a critical level of supply. With two mass casualty events in two days those levels are going to be even lower. So anyone who can please donate blood. www.mbc.org/donate-blood...
Memorial Blood Centers provide most of the blood to local hospitals. www.mbc.org/donate-blood...

This week in Car Free life: mid century modern end table from FB Marketplace.

Pretty solid wood construction, but still wanted to detach the legs and wrap in a blanket.

$20, 20 minutes each way, and now I have a lovely little table for my living room. Easy peasy.

Minneapolis bike pals!
Anyone looking for a 1 bedroom apartment (first floor) in a quadplex of other bike people?

Locked garage available, secure underground storage too, cat friendly, and you get to be my neighbor! Rent is approx $1,000 a month and includes water, trash, heat.

This week I got to take @metrotransitmn.bsky.social to a show at the Armory, and then rent a scooter on my way home after the show in amazing weather.

No car, no parking, no problem!

Getting solicited at National Night Out wasn't on my bingo card for 2025 but here we are.

Bonus points because he did call me "Princess" and asked if I was 22. (Chat, I am 32).
