please retire the phrase "i wish i had time to be depressed"

1) nobody has time to be depressed
2) depression doesn't care if you're busy
3) willing yourself to force through symptoms bc you have stuff to do is only effective for mild-medium depression, not severe
4) it's a shitty thing to say

In 2009, I met @benpaddon.net when I interviewed about Jump Leads, their sci-fi comedy web comic.
Today, in 2025, the second season of the audio drama of Jump Leads premieres!
A cross between Sliders, Doctor Who, and Lower Decks with Douglas Adams British wit.

Guillermo del Toro on wealth: "a wealthy man is a man who has enough, not a man that needs more. If you have enough to invite someone for a beer? You're rich. If you have a yacht, planes, islands, and you still need more? You're not rich."

A belter of a post by @mmasnick.bsky.social: "The pattern is clear: mainstream media has become so terrified of appearing biased that they’ve abandoned their basic responsibility to clearly communicate truth to the public."

Also one of the reasons why independent journalists are vital right now.

Seems time to repost this. Y'know, no particular reason.

Ah yes, an audio engineer job that requires three years of tour and production experience and the ability to move heavy things, seems totally reasonable to only pay literal minimum wage. 🙄

I called this part a while back: “But many clients don’t appreciate the work that goes into revamping a poorly written AI article, she said, noting that companies often offer less pay for these gigs based on the assumption that they’re less demanding.”
The AI boom has created a new type of work: fixing botched AI. Designers are being hired to remake wonky AI art. Writers are asked to make ChatGPT’s writing sound more human. Even software developers are tasked with fixing buggy vibe coding.

The hardest thing about this year's #DragonCon wasn't the post-con depression—which hits hard enough—but not coming home to an overjoyed German Shepherd for the first of the twelve times I've ever gone. Miss my fluffy buddy so much.

The calm before The Storm.

Today, I do laundry, I fold clothes, I finish my panel notes, pack suitcase.

Tomorrow, I wake up at zero dark early to suffer the 405and LAX, to fly across the country for the glorious pilgrimage Home to @dragoncon.org to party with my nerdy Family.

So close.

Missing this precious buddy so much. I didn’t even get seven and a half years with you. But the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long. Most sweet, joyful dog I’ve ever known.
