That makes such a difference to quality of life and health. Not just beans n chips every day.

Ooh, love a bit of tongue!

Love a snowdrop. So perkily optimistic. Ours are only a few days away, it seems.

Good morning Hilary and all. It was a fun, quiet day on the market yesterday, lovely in the crisp winter sun. I’m out now to feed the birds. There’s a blood test this morning but am making up for that with dinner later at a favourite restaurant, even if have to swim there…

If you do, make sure to drop into Utobeer to say hello.

Tik Tok and Insta have changed it, not for the better. But the early months of the year and mid week are still great and there is exceptional produce available. Advert over! 😬

Finally, St Austell Proper Job AF is the best of the trad British brewers. And Guinness 0.0 is justifiably popular.
January 14, 2026 at 9:00 AM
Yes, we typically have 20-30 different AF beers. The Belgians are doing some great things (Choufe, Zot, Kasteel), Rothaus pils from Germany. Mash Gang, Brulo and Below Brew are the best of the AF specialists. Many small breweries have added excellent AF options to their lists.

Yes, I work in Borough Market. It’s probably in the top 20 most visited London attractions. Not so much in January, though!
January 14, 2026 at 8:53 AM
We’ve all been by there, Rob!
January 14, 2026 at 8:41 AM
It’s a factor, Rob, but I’m not sure it affects us as much as many places. A good 80% of our customers are tourists…we just have noticeably fewer of them this time of year.

This is very true. The borough I live in is “fox friendly” so we have lots of them around. Wonderful creatures, especially when the cubs are out playing.
January 14, 2026 at 8:35 AM
A picture that tells a story; clearly the fox had a big night out, was riding home on the Forest bike but crashed into the tree and decided to sleep it all off. There will be hell to pay when he gets back to the den…

Hope the good luck charm works, Ben.

Good morning Ben and all. Yep, it was another quiet day on the market yesterday but I think I’ve adapted to the slower pace now and it’s making a nice change…
As long as things kick into gear soon! Right, better get a move on.
January 14, 2026 at 6:43 AM
Good morning Guy and all. It’s a soggy start to the day here but I’ll take my chances and head out for a walk in a mo. Then it’s off to the market. Suspect it’ll be a quiet-ish day (footfall last week was under 60% of an average week) but we have plenty of tasks to be cracking on with.
January 13, 2026 at 6:49 AM
My condolences… sending hugs.
January 12, 2026 at 9:51 AM
I will look forward to that!
January 12, 2026 at 7:13 AM
I’ll grit my teeth and crack on with it…
January 12, 2026 at 6:55 AM
Good morning Didi and all. Looks like a dreary day out there.
Appropriate weather for an admin day, I guess. Have a good week all.

It really seems to have flown under the radar… we only found it because we happened to walk past the theatre a few weeks back. A happy accident.
