I want to be living in a period of time where English majors and fine art majors study for their dissertations.

What does a washed up and rejected professor of deaf education do with their life besides be a washed up and burned out teacher of the deaf?
I feel like everything I have done has been a complete waste and I can't find a way to be useful.
I hate this feeling of having no purpose.

Had an IEP meeting today for my daughter. One of the strengths noted is that she is very social-justice oriented. She has a burning desire to see equality come to fruition.
We screw up every day as parents, but reminders like this make me hope that she will stand on the right side of history.

I am so angry to see this "partnership" designed to eliminate deaf classrooms and push deaf kids into cross categorical classrooms with a multiply certified teacher in order to address teacher and interpreter shortages. It's disguised as a wonderful solution BUT will only cause harm to deaf kids.

I have officially made it a year since my career abruptly ended and my world came crashing down.
I have worked 7 jobs trying to find stability. My health and my family took the brunt of the failure.
All we can do is keep moving toward the end of this pointless journey and exist together.

I returned to k-12 and am an early career teacher again 🙄 I know I am going to be done before I make the 3 years. 💔

I'm so tired of administrators treating sign language interpreters and the use of ASL by deaf children as if it an unnecessary 'crutch' that needs to be faded out. This isn't a fade out intervention.

Where do you place a kid who is deaf to develop language and combat language deprivation syndrome when the school for the deaf only takes kids who are functioning in regular classes? #Indiana #DeafSchool there is no self-contained classroom for deaf kids and people seem ok with this.
