Learning from “traffic calming.” People shouldn’t need community-based fascism calming in their neighborhoods.
People are definitely setting up a barricade of trash cans and this couch, in the middle of the street where ICE is.

"That's my couch," said a woman standing nearby. "It's been on my porch for four years because it won't fit up the stairs. My neighbor will be pleased it's gone now."

A few facts:

Amtrak is a public enterprise, but its leaders don’t treat it as a public service

Amtrak has historically lacked the funding to substantially increase capacity (e.g., with more & longer trains)

Amtrak providing affordable tickets on the NEC would mean less profit for the agency
Amtrak over the last few years has expanded its use of dynamic pricing, a system that rewards early planners and charges a premium for flexibility and last-minute travel. Critics of Amtrak’s approach say a taxpayer-supported service should not behave like a moody algorithm.
Travel Math: When Flying Costs as Much as the Train, Who Wins?
Amtrak says dynamic pricing has helped strengthen its finances, but travelers often grumble at the cost, especially for last-minute travel. Still, the train has a secret weapon: avoiding the airport.

An insane, perfect encapsulation of it all:

The same day Trump’s agents kill a Veterans Affairs ICU nurse in broad daylight, the CEOs of Apple and Amazon join Trump to watch a private screening of a film about his wife directed by an alleged sexual abuser who was seen shirtless in the Epstein Files

Alex Pretti, the man killed by federal agents today in Minneapolis, appears to have been a registered nurse, an athlete, a son and a brother, with ties to Colorado and Wisconsin.

Here is a photo he used for several accounts.

AI is explicitly, intentionally racist, not just incidentally racist
“There will be more than enough jobs for the citizens of your nation, esp. those with vocational training,” said Karp. “I do think these trends really do make it hard to imagine why we should have large-scale immigration unless you have a very specialized skill.”

Palantir CEO Says AI to Make Large-Scale Immigration Obsolete
Artificial intelligence will displace so many jobs that it will eliminate the need for mass immigration, according to Palantir Technologies Inc. Chief Executive Officer Alex Karp.

Viele Pariser spüren es im Alltag, und auch die Statistik zeigt: Fahrräder erobern die Stadt. Das „Vélo“ ist damit gegenüber dem Auto auf der Überholspur.

people are dying in ICE custody because their concentration camps are like concentration camps always are
I’ve been writing Popular Information for 8 years, and this is one of the most important stories I’ve ever published. This is a humanitarian crisis that has gone unreported.
ICE has stopped paying for detainee medical treatment
ICE halted payments in October, and the situation will persist for at least several more months
