& if I could broadcast one message to the world it would be that there is absolutely no good reason to mass produce another mammal for its breast milk. It will never not be an unmitigated atrocity. And I can't believe how poorly understood it still is among those who should know better

a2view spotlighting John U. Bacon's post complaining about the parking ban is wild. Like if you own a vehicle and do not have somewhere to store it on non-public property, that's your own fault, not the city's. Not trying to be heartless with the cold here, but come on. The entitlement is nuts.

The point I wish I'd made clearer in our coverage: It's not that the new guidelines happen get some stuff right & some stuff wrong, but rather they fundamentally lack methodological rigor, don't pre-register their questions or criteria for answering them, & therefore, as Matt says, cherry-pick 1/
The authors further show us that they cherry-picked and are comfortable with that. Advice to vegans that diets could result in nutritional deficiencies came from selecting only one of two DGAC-modeled scenarios: the scenario that didn't control for calories/quantity eaten (i.e. less realistic). 7/

What does animal ag use all those antibiotics for? The dairy industry, for ex, uses them to treat mastitis, a terrible condition that arises frequently b/c dairy production is brutal & pushes their bodies to the point of collapse. For that, we're willing to risk the effectiveness of modern medicine?
At the end of each year, FDA releases data on antibiotics sold for use in livestock.

It usually changes a few %. This year, it went up 15.8%.

I was shocked & emailed experts/industry groups. Likeliest explanation per a source: industry is not "being good stewards of antibiotics"

I was just talking to a good friend about how much content online is mass manufactured rage bait. Presumably, GAI is only making this problem proliferate. Unfortunately, this has done incalculable damage to veganism (among many other areas of the societal fabric!) over the last several years.
A Reddit user has claimed they were paid by a meat industry trade group to undermine veganism on social media.

The user claims they were paid $17 an hour for the work. They add that the role did not feel worthwhile and that they left the position shortly after starting.

It’s pretty sick to do a turkey pardoning if you think about it. What do people think they’re being pardoned from?

One of the wildest things to me lately is how so many brands still promote their Xwitter accounts prominently, even though its owner is a neo nazi and the fact that it is a haven for horrific ideologies.

This is a good thing, actually. Turkey prices are generally too artificially low. Consider humane alternatives such as Tofurky or a Celebration Roast!

Awful URL and apologize for likely tracking embedded in it but reading these comments is quite something. There’s a lot of small mindedness going on, wildly baseless claims, and tired old jokes. I am not surprised but it’s still disheartening so many people speak like this.

Another example of something important that’s been erased in this political era, we really need to eat a a LOT fewer animal-based foods. Not that veganism ever stole the conversation, but it had brighter moments several years ago. Note who the people are who see promoting this “carnivore” nonsense.

I'm always incredibly nervous when I ride my bike through here. Drivers, often those from well out of town due to the hospital, behave extremely poorly here. I can't count the number of times I've seen cars in the crosswalk or left turns well after the arrow has turned red. Absolutely dangerous.
Three years and no response from the city for this report on a dangerous intersection. I bike this way regularly and cars never yield to pedestrians even when the walk signal is activated. This area has very high pedestrian traffic.
