🆕 Several Earth system components may be closer to destabilisation than previously thought. Crossing key temperature thresholds could trigger feedback loops, pushing the planet toward a “Hothouse Earth” trajectory. Study by @oregonstate.edu, @iiasa.ac.at & PIK: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

#CDR has a range of distinct methods. #StateOfCDR Ed2, Fig 1.4 shows how CDR approaches differ in capture, readiness, mitigation, storage pool & timescales.

Some more mature today storing #carbon over short periods while others are early-stage having long storage timescales.

🔈 Let’s debunk common climate myths!

Myth #1 : “A couple of degrees of warming is not that big of a deal.”

Fact: Actually, small temperature rises can throw the world’s delicate ecosystems into disarray, with dire implications for humans and other living things.

Many #peatlands and coastal #wetlands are degraded, making them a source of #greenhouse #gas emissions. Restoring them can reduce emissions & turn them into #carbon removers. These vital carbon stores depend on long-term protection & management.
