Intellectual property professor at Suffolk Law specializing in copyright, trademark, fanfiction, and internet memes.

David Nimmer once thanked me for teaching him what Omegaverse is, and that's my biggest professional accomplishment.
Important announcement just made on the commuter rail: "It feels like this goes without saying but we apparently need to clarify: You can't smoke pot on the train."

It was a great privilege to get to hear Justice Breyer speak at Suffolk today.

Reading "The Missing Thread: A Women's History of the Ancient World" by @daisydunn.bsky.social. It says "Such was the appetite for the Iliad and the Odyssey that a series of poems known as the Epic Cycle came into being to extend their storylines or offer prequels." Fanfiction is timeless & eternal.

Reading about the indictments of the MLB pitchers on throwing pitches & thinking about something @vinsoncunningham.bsky.social kind of said on an episode of Critics at Large re: gambling: Our fandoms all get monetized to the max *by others,* and then our love for something becomes just...money.

........nobody thought about this at the time? Like, I assumed they took that path because they had a plan in place for what they were going to do with the next movie.

Silly me, why would they have had a PLAN?????
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

I was going to check my work email but it needed to check my identity using my phone which is when I realized I left my phone in the other room and oops, the dog is now sleeping on my lap so I guess I'm just not checking my email right now!

The squealing of green line trains at Park Street is so nostalgic to me. The sound of home lol

Thoroughly exhausted from constantly verifying my identity. Now doubt that I am who I say that I am.

I am in the middle of @emilynussbaum.bsky.social 's Cue the Sun so I'm already thinking about reality television and then today I had lunch with a friend who told me she's going to BravoCon next week.

I FINALLY got around to reading Jill Lepore's originalism article in The Atlantic and this is your periodic reminder that originalism is just RPF: scholarship.law.ufl.edu/cgi/viewcont...

I am rereading A Room of One's Own, which I haven't read since college. I am marveling at how it says it started life as lectures. Just imagining giving a presentation at a conference and it turning out to be, like, A Room of One's Own.

I bought a new house and I get an insurance discount if I install an alarm so I put a Ring alarm in. Now I realize that people are constantly using the Ring community to freak out about everything around them. I immediately turned it off. It doesn't seem like a good thing to me.

I keep being like, "oh, wow, I wonder what's going on over there with all the caution tape," and then realizing it's just a Halloween decoration

Always spreading joy and happiness wherever I go lol
at #mosaicIP and @staceylantagne.bsky.social just said “if we didn’t already have libraries, we could never get them”

& everyone in the room went "yeahhhhh" in sad quiet voices

On Monday the Federal Circuit heard cases at Suffolk and I got the opportunity to sit in. It was amazing and it made me wish that everyone got such an opportunity to see what courts (who aren't Judge Judy) and lawyers (who aren't on Suits) do.

Thank you to @lexlanham.bsky.social for hosting an incredible CLICWIP conference on Friday and Saturday! I had a great time catching up with everyone and hearing about a variety of awesome projects in the works!

A great thing about Boston is that sometimes you have to go to the bank and you happen to be in line behind someone cosplaying Paul Revere.

Today I said to my dog, "I need you to move with a little more urgency, buddy."

And then I realized that probably the lesson I'm supposed to be learning from him is sometimes, we should just take a breath and a leisurely walk, instead of rushing so fast we miss everything.

Who do I petition to get a rule, no scrolling of tiktok with sound on while on a commuter train?

I have no children so I experience the world through my sisters' kids, and the oldest, my nephew, just started high school last week, and I have never felt so ancient. No lockers, no homeroom, no books. It's wild how much things have changed.
