Full menu integration complete for #RedM stables!
I realize it might be more productive to pull it out and place it into its own resource with an API so that it uses less system resources than making a new menu for things that might require a similar UI. So I'mma do that. #gamedev #uidesign

Been a while since I've posted...anywhere. Working on #RedM development stuff as a foundation project for a larger #gamedev project in the future! Also cowboys are cool.
Anyway! Been overhauling some horse stuff from the game and here's a preview at the menu I've been working on for it. :)

Why does Unity keep making reasons for people to avoid it? All they gotta do is make engine, support devs, and charge in a way where you don't suddenly go out of business over your engine choice.

On this episode of "Unity fucks up", apparently client revenue counts towards your own? Is that true?
So Unity recently decided that the tiny startup I dayjob for needed to upgrade to Industry at 5k/year/seat. We had no chance to contest it because they would have killed our only product. They even threatened people we worked with in the past with the same.

It's not just us.

I've been saying this for a while: Get off Unity, they continue to break their (ever-worsening) promises on licensing and costs. #indiedev #gamedev

I started using #Defold two years ago because of Unity's nonsence. I highly recommend it (with caveats🧵) or any other open-source toolkit like #Godot.

I'm familiar enough with GoDot that this isn't as bad as using a new engine entirely.
It'll also be a reason to use Bsky to post iterative progress
Was just about ready to start doing the fun part of my newest game's combat system when I decided to experiment.
With the upsurge in posts saying Unity is suspending accounts for no reason, I figured I'd try to catch up to my game's current state in GoDot to see if a full migration is feasible.
