I missed #HotStickSaturday yesterday because I was a bit down. Nevertheless, I did find a spectacular specimen. #iNaturalist says the dark #lichen is netted specklebelly. Also plenty of #Moss and other #lichens too! #PNW #ISeeMoss #GoOutside #Breathe #Notice
A forked, fallen branch is covered in a dark-crown pelt of white-dotted lichen in the middle, with a sprig of bright green tree lungwort lichen near the center, plenty of wet, green sprigs of moss, and shaggy, pale sea green cartilage lichens on the ends. Fun times!

A tray of delicious Korean food from vendor at the H-Mart on Oahu, which I devoured after a long day of hiking last summer. The main dish is a red and chunky tofu stew filled with veggies, a metal bowl of rice to the left, and 4 bowls of kimchi varieties along the top. This was SO freaking tasty. Left no crumbs.

I’ve edited a cherry tree branch full of opened blossoms that had dew on them. It’s an altered negative image so the foggy background looks black. The branch looks pale pink, and the blossoms are purple with blue, glowing centers. I then used a tool to swirl the blurrier edges and pull and curl them. I am pleased with the results. I may enter this in my state fair’s “altered reality” division in photography later this year. We shall see.

The South Falls at Silver Falls State Park is full after repeated atmospheric rivers. The waterfall cascades down over layers of lava rock into a greenish-blue pool. Douglas firs stand in the misty sun on the rocks above, and along the trail down to the falls. The trees in the right foreground are totally covered in green moss, as are the rocks behind and alongside the waterfall. Little green ferns are also poking out of the moss on the trees!

About 5 centimeters of a twig traveling from the upper right to the lower left of the frame. The bottom part is covered in yellow sunburst lichen, the middle has a small section of outward looking rosette lichen with its black discs and whitish rims. This runs into a shaggy, pale sea green puff of some kind if ramalina lichen, which then goes up into a sprig of dark green moss. So much going on here!

A macro shot of moss on growing on some bricks in my yard. It had been drizzling for awhile, so I took the macro lens out and tried to capture the tiny droplets collecting like clear crystal orb-like beads on the tall green sporophytes and brick-red capsules. Tufts of darker green moss poke out around the bottom.

A great blue heron stands in the tide pools at Seal Rock on the Oregon Coast back in the summer. The rocks behind the heron have a few ochre sea stars on them. The bright orange one looks hilariously as if it’s flowing off the back of the heron’s head like a little hat.

I think this may actually be 2 different kinds of tube lichen on a storm-fallen branch, but I’m not sure. There are pale greenish gray tube-like growths and then the lower left part has yellowish, semi-fluted cup growths, while the upper right has more standard cup growths that are more caramel colored.

My RPG year in review:
I’ve really only been running three games this year. Shadow of the Weird Wizard for the Friday crew (just reached 7th level), Hyperborea for the work group (very rare), and old school D&D for the family (also very rare these days). Having a great time when we do play, though.
