alright, new Ham OC time, this time featuring the rare character whose main story takes place shortly before-during the actual game, hurrah!

meet Jehanne de Auberée, ex-noblewoman and mercenary who gets dragged into in a civil war between two factions of Ishgard's rebel element.

Jehanne de Auberée, who legally cannot use either her surname or the 'de', was once one of the darlings of Ishgard's noble circuit. Incredibly proficient with both a lance and a pen, her early years were marked by assurances that she would absolutely go on to fulfill the Auberée's longstanding promise of offering their most talented elder child unto the ranks of Ishgard's most holy Inquisition. As was increasingly common during the decades preceeding the end of the Dragonsong War, House Auberéé instead fell to accusations of both Dravanian sympathy and of consorting with the Void, both the gravest of heresies. Their ranks were subject to an uncannily brutal purge - even by Inquisition standards - that saw even teenagers put to fire and flame, and infants forcibly rehomed to loyalist Houses. Jehanne, at the time in the care of a high-ranking Inquisitor, was fortunately spared. Her family name, affiliations and privileges, however, were null and void. When her liege and mentor passed three years later, she was rejected by the Inquisition and forced into mercenary work to make ends meet. She was but 19 years old when this transition occurred, and she is a mere 25 years old at the start of A Realm Reborn. Ever a social chameleon, Jehanne has blended into Eorzea's mercenary circles and especially The Brume with impunity. Posing a hotheaded and relatively ignorant sellsword with a thick Lominsan accent, her facade fools most people, even those among the aristocracy. When forced into situations that demand a serious hand, her febrile nature gives way to a surprisingly erudite diction, accompaned by a breadth of knowledge about Eorzea's upper social stratas and topics typically only known to those of a highborn education. Of course, those accompanying her in such situations are often too focused on their own survival to notice. What they do notice, however, is that the brusque and often destructive Jehanne becomes much more adroit with a sword when she switches from her left hand to her right. Jehanne, for all her mastery of the art of performance, can't hide the movements that come from years of formal training in the art of combat. Why she uses a sword as opposed to a lance is anybody's guess. Jehanne, like any mercenary who's survived longer than a year in the field, is intimately well connected. While she can't even yawn in Ishgard's upper class districts without drawing unwanted attention, similar circles across Eorzea know her as a charming womanizer with a foul - if not skilled - mouth, shallow pockets, an Ivory Road's worth of unpaid bar tabs, and a soft spot for Eorzea's myriad labourers and down-and-outs. Like many of her peers and fellows in the mercenary trade, Jehanne's permanent residence is Eorzea itself, as she's been a habitual nomad for as long as she's been 'on the scene', so to speak. While she makes adequate money in her line of work, simply maintaining her equipment and apparel keeps even a modest apartment out of her reach. *Un*like many of her peers, as a Duskwight she does not have the luxury of camping out underneath the canopies of the Black Shroud without drawing the eye of the Wood Wailers, and her noble upbringing makes the Ul'dahn heat unbearable. It is a mercy, then, that so many are willing to let her rest on their sofa - or floor, in most cases. To say Jehanne has a singular driving goal is to come into conflict with reality. While she would love to find out what happened to her House, hang the Inquisitors responsible, and liberate Ishgard, her more banal needs demand she focus on having a place to sleep, enough money to eat, and a way to avoid dying of hypothermia during Eorzea's gradually intensifying winters. If she has to sleep rough, her primary focus is not getting football kicked in the skull by Temple Knights. Make no mistake though. Despite her attempts at coming across as simple, Jehanne is a deeply thoughtful woman who, unlike some of the rebel/heretic elements she takes Gil from, is keenly aware that simply dismantling the Theocracy won't 'fix' Ishgard on a cultural level. This logical truth clashes with her much more emotional desire to burn the entire city to the ground and host a celebration amidst a backdrop of burning spires and blazing manors. She is, at heart, a woman of paradoxes: Too cynical to believe in those working for change, too emotional to want anything other than a total destruction of The Holy See, too cautious to work with the more radical Heretics, too hopeful to think mass unconditional revenge would do anything, and too rational to care about anything other than staying alive. Nobody really knows her, and perhaps nobody really will, so this war rages within and never without.

Jehanne's ultimate moment of impotent cuck rage is in HW, where she resolves several years of indecisiveness by saying "alright, i will take part in efforts to free Ishgard" only to be injured in an unrelated scuffle and quite literally sleep through The Revolution

Tell us your favorite parts of each design, or anything you were particularly conscious of in the design. What I was particularly conscious of with the dress from the first outfit is that I wanted to give Sphene an overall doll-like appearance. To this end, I designed decorations that would brighten the inside of the skirt to make it look like she was a doll in a window display lit from below.
