After 400 years of having a thumb on the scale, simply removing it doesn't make things right. The scale is warped. Irreparably. We need a new scale.

"One out of every two US deaths under 65 years is likely avoidable."

Overdoses
Gun violence
Health care

All easily solvable. And would not only save millions of lives but also trillions of dollars 🤷‍♀️

The movement drags the party(sometimes kicking and screaming). Suffrage, environment, labor, civil rights, anti-Vietnam war. And when it fails to drag them, as with abolition, it can result in the creation of a new party and the death of the old one. So careful, Dems. We're watching you.
Man I am getting a completely different takeaway from this chart than everyone else. This is a sign that electoral politics isn’t really about policy or messaging, it’s about large groups of people reacting to events. People don’t hear arguments, they see things happening and change their stances.
Commiserations to Matty Yglesias, the merry band of well funded centrists, and all the major politics desks behind them

Normally I wouldn't trust anything in the Daily Mail even with photographic evidence but they seem to be the only outlet reporting the removal of items from the Ross' home. I wonder if they were able to find his copy of the Turner Diaries.

"I'm not mad at you" should be our "I bear my chest; shoot me!"

The latter, said by Abu Sayed shortly before being shot, escalated a movement's conflict with a government whose leader was thought to be untouchable. Sheikh Hasina was deposed, fled the country, and sentenced to death in absentia.

American Samoans, unique among *everyone* born in US states or territories, are denied US citizenship.

That means they are banned from voting.

That's made some a target of vicious GOP prosecution for fraud; even if they were told incorrect info from public officials.

🤣 You are pathetic. Glad you found a home with the other centrists. Keep winning, brother!
My replies have been limited to people who follow me for months. You’re the clown who came to me to whine about it. I’m sorry you’re not getting enough attention & set on fixating on doom. I would’ve been your daddy but a dog beat me over the fence.
Replying and then limiting replies 😂 I guess he needs a victory like the Democratic party today.

I'm just pointing out that even when something passes, again, UNANIMOUSLY nothing is guaranteed. And that seeing Ds dancing and celebrating just highlights how hopeless the party is.

It’s almost like you should be mad that Republicans refused to override him because they control the majority & didn’t wanna hurt his feelings because he’s sad about the nut rotting in a cell in Colorado & mad his ICE facility in FL is getting blocked like the article says. You know, not Democrats.

I know this "invasion" fearmongering goes back to at least that famous bigot pustule Pat Buchanan in the 90s but I still think there was a concerted effort(read: conspiracy) among right-wing circles to work that angle HARD. And I think the inspiration for this was my beloved(🤮) Texas.
Rep. Randy Fine: "It's time for Americans to say 'enough,' and if you get in the way of the government repelling a foreign invasion, you're gonna end up just like that lady did yesterday."

For anyone else like me that thought it was Joseph Welch("have you no decency?") that led with Murrow following. It was the opposite. Murrow called him out in at least 3 episodes prior to Welch shaming him to his face.

Welch: 6/9/54
Murrow: 10/20/53 thru 3/9/54
I'm old enough to remember when CBS News and journalists like Edward R. Murrow held power to account, instead of capitulating to it.

He doesn't deign to waste his time here but if he ever does maybe he would be kind enough to answer the following:

What was the percentage of trade surplus to GDP post-WWII for the U.S.? How does that compare to present-day China's?

If you don't attend protests out of an abundance of caution, there is probably no way to stay under the radar if you have a "normal" life. They have everything you've ever liked, posted, watched, un/followed, reviewed, blocked, un/friended, ordered, returned, GPSed, texted.

In the past couple of decades the U.S. spent billions trying to figure out how to defeat an insurgency. Good to know they didn't learn anything.

Just replace "COIN force" with "ICE" and "insurgents" with "immigrants" or "protestors."
