The only thing trying to get an art degree taught me was how to get free art supplies
the issue comes when you actually do go to school for something art-related but wind up just using the tools they give you to teach yourself anyway, so you're not even allowed to fully say either lol

I tell people who bitch about being a talented and gifted overachever who assume I was also one, that no, I have always, in fact, been a huge academic disappointment to have in class, bright but never did any homework and dreaded school. Since 1st grade.

I think part of this issue in particular is they fully don't understand the difference between generative AI and quantum computing and think the proverbial Room of Typewriting Monkeys will be able to learn like a human brain
The claims of what AI will be capable of grow ever more outlandish and remind me of the kind of marketing hype NFT shills were spouting right before their bubble burst, like "What if you could own Mario?" only now it's "the AI will build you a Breath of the Wild."
