There's only one family film playing in theaters this weekend... that's as Looney as THIS one! Go see "The Day the Earth Blew Up!"

(3 part post!) @michaeljruocco.bsky.social inspiring me something fierce, as per usual.. this is maybe the most effort I’ve ever put into such a stupid punchline, but this is so good that I had to do something. Go see the pig and duck film! (1/3)

Here's some select Sylvesters from various shorts I did for Looney Tunes Cartoons. He was fun to draw. We joked that our version of Sylvester's nose/lips reminded us of a ballpit from Chuck E. Cheese.

The Day the Earth Blew Up was a very charming movie. I was surprised it used the anamorphic 2.39:1 aspect ratio and used it well. It definitely helped it feel like a movie made for theater and not just a straight-to-video feature on the big screen.

The Day the Earth Blew Up - 5 BIG 💥 - ton of fun! Genuinely hilarious at so many different points, and while some of the jokes will probably age, it’s still fantastic 2D animation that’s a must watch!

The way the animators animated Farmer Jim in The Day the Earth Blew Up is pure genius and hilarity. Like, I wouldn't have thought someone animating a character like this, but the team at Warner Bros Animation thought through about it... And it's glorious!
Bro pour one out for the realest mf in the world

It’s also happy to see families together experiencing and reconnecting with the #LooneyTunes characters. This is probably anyone’s first time seeing Porky and Daffy on the big screen and they are in for a real treat.

The Day the Earth Blew up was really good and leaned into 2D drawn gag animation in a way I haven't seen in a long time

It also managed to blend old school cartoon tropes with modern storytelling in a really cool way so it didn't just feel like 90 minutes of Looney Toons shorts

If you have the chance to see The Day the Earth Blew Up in a theater, you should absolutely jump at the chance to do so. Absolutely a joy from start to finish, great animation, very much nails the "Looney Tunes" aesthetics, great music and visual gags.
Just got home from watching the Looney Tunes movie "The Day The Earth Blew Up," and it was FANTASTIC! So much animated GOODNESS! 🥰 Y'all definitely should go give this movie some love as it plays in theaters into the weekend.

Just got back from a damn-near empty theater that showed "The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie". Here are my thoughts on it:

A ★★★★½ review of The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie (2024)
It almost upsets me how little promotion or attention this film has gotten for such a big-name franchise. It absolutely shows that the people who made it are huge Looney Tunes fans and wanted to recap...

The Day the Earth Blew Up was a pretty solid zombie flick turned sci-fi adventure with all the Looney Tunes flavour. Sound was so good at the theatre I was able to pick up some out of pocket background dialogue that had me in stitches! Oh and that plot twist chewed.

Didn’t mention it yesterday but @ambergir.bsky.social and I took the kids and saw The Day The Earth Blew Up. Had a lot of fun, should definitely be seen by in a theatre while you can, and ‘while you can’ might only last until this weekend. So don’t wait!
