Father, husband, geek, leftist, not liberal. Anti-Fascist. Anti-MAGA. Despairing.
I think we can all tell how Trump being a pedophile will turn out.

The Republican Party is going to go full bore Libertarian and declare that age of consent laws are stupid relics of the past, probably DEI somehow, and it's objectively good for rich white men to rape young teenage girls.

Remember back when America had an actual terrorist organization that destroyed private property to protest tariffs on tea?

And since I'm very late to many parties....

I just realized that the overlay of Abrahamic mythos in Evangelion covers a meta-plot that's strongly Buddhist influenced.

The Human Instrumentality Project is a twisted techno-nightmarish forced version of nirvana.

The new Flash Gordon run by Dan Schkade is pretty great overall, but as far as I'm concerned his single greatest contribution to canon is the word "Mongothic" for things of or pertaining to the planet Mongo.

Mongothic law. The Arena Mongothic. Mongoths. Mongothic monsters. It's just great!

Now there's a problem with having a government run by bonkers power hungry would be dictators: even if Imamoglu really is a corrupt graft laden crook, the absurd penalties demanded make the case seem petty and driven by the whim of an autocrat rather than like serious charges.
Turkey demands more than 2,000 years' jail for popular Istanbul mayor Imamoglu
Istanbul's chief prosecutor accuses Ekrem Imamoglu and 400 others of running a corruption network.

It really is always projection isn't it?

Trump says "Sleepy Joe Biden" and it means that Trump falls asleep during meetings and is trying to project his issues onto those he sees as enemies.

Just your reminder that Elon Musk is personally, if somewhat indirectly, responsible for a minimum of 600,000 deaths including 400,000 children. And that's just from him destroying USAID.

Just something to keep in mind when you see the headlines about his trillion dollar paycheck.

Well. I don't know why I expected anything else. But somehow I was gullible or desperate enough that I did.

Mamdani: Free busses would be a good idea.

Republicans: EVIL COMMIE! That would never work!

OpenAI: We'd like to have unlimited government funding and the right to loot everything for training data without paying.

Republicans: BRILLIANT! A perfect plan! Very workable!

Regarding the possible overturn of Obergefell CNN writes

"One of the factors the Supreme Court considers when weighing the possibility of overturning a precedent is whether Americans have come to rely on the decision"

Like they did in Roe because NO ONE had come to rely on that, right?

I'd like to remind Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga, that the Federal government takes vastly more from NYC than NYC gets in Federal spending. Talking about "spending money on NYC" is obscene, what they really mean is "not taking as much from NYC to spend on red state welfare".

I wonder roughly what percentage of Mamdani voters went with Mamdani because they hoped Coumo would keep his promise to leave NYC if Mamdani won?

I mean, probably not many, but at least a few right?

While Mamdani's victory is great, it's also worth reflecting on the fact that 41.6% of New Yorkers wanted a serial rapist and obscenely corrupt white guy to be mayor.

"Mamdani is not a warning shot; he is a sign of things to come. Dem voters everywhere want transformative change. They’re furious at party’s leaders and suspicious of candidates backed by an establishment that gets everything wrong," writes @alexshephard.bsky.social. newrepublic.com/article/2027...

This is your reminder that if Mike Johnson calls the House back into session they'd have to seat Rep Grijalva and she'd be the final vote to release the Epstein files on the committee meaning Johnson would have to openly vote to suppress them.

That's at least part of his motive.

Mal Reynolds(Firefly) Frieren, Kaburo (Dungeon Meshi), all characters who aren't murderous and don't like killing but if they conclude that they do need to kill someone they do it without hesitation and with ruthless efficiency.

I don't know why, but that's a character type I really like.
