I'm always shocked to look at the runtime and remember that this one's five minutes long. I guess I lose track of time listening to it, which I figure probably makes it a successful dreampop song.

I saw Orville Peck play at a festival last year and truly like a 3rd of the money I spent on the pass was to hear him play this live and, truly, it was money well spent. (Especially because the schedule lined up so he played it at sunset.)

Obligatory Jazz Pick! honestly, Kamasi Washington playing a Debussy composition is one of the most "well of course I'm going to like this" pitches in the abstract, and then the reality of the song is everything I could ask for and more.

I don't know how many times I've listened to the radio and heard a DJ just play this before or after playing "Can You Get To That" — it's a lot in recent years — but pretty much every time it works on me like gangbusters. Recycling is cool, actually!

I don't know if this is my very favorite ConMan song but it *is* kind of the ideal form of a ConMan song to me. I also love the video, love any video that feels like it's beamed in from another universe's public access channel.

This was my introduction to Faye Webster and it gave a great first impression. I just stumbled across this song rife with ennui and the sense that it's nice outside and you're going nowhere in August 2020 and it really resonated. Dunno why!

The actual awful choice I have to make re: Janelle Monae is which non-single song I vote for down the road. Singles-wise, this is my favorite one of my favorite album she's put out. Effortlessly cool!

"I Jake the Snake 'em, DDT 'em in mausoleums" is maybe my favorite wrestling reference in a rap song and there are about eight million of those so I figure the song it's on ought to make my list.
