We've reached the peak! X4.05 from AR 4274. It seemed like only a matter of time until we got another big one from this active region, and wow is it a beautiful flare! Monitoring for any CME activity now, but unfortunately the bulk will of any will be directed away from Earth...

Lighthunting was a bit disappointing last night in Austria. Anyway, I took an all-sky picture yesterday evening shortly after dusk, on which at least a faintly visible SAR arc can be seen.

While I was playing around videoing airplanes flying under the aurora last night, I had my other camera taking stills. Here's 1661 stills connected covering 55 actual minutes. The bright, fast moving streaks are the airplanes. I sped this up faster than normal because we all have swiping to do.

Der heutige geomagnetische Sturm war der bislang stärkste des Jahres und der drittstärkste des aktuellen Sonnenzyklus, nach Mai 2024 & Oktober 2024. Nun heißt es abwarten, bis der gestrige CME eintrifft: Das Potenzial ist groß bzw. ein weiterer Höhepunkt könnte noch bevorstehen.

Resulting in a massive maximum total magnetic field of 63 nT, presumably the #solarstorm from Monday morning arrived 2025 Nov 11 23:38 at L1, and interacted with the previous storm just before it arrived at the L1 point near Earth. Dst reached - 238 nT, which is the 3rd strongest storm of this cycle

Aktuell ist das Polarlicht noch immer mit dem freien Auge sichtbar. Die Dämmung wird die Show für heute beenden

Wow. The impact from the CME has caused the Hp 30 index to immediately jump to 7.33. This is essentially a 30-minute version of the Kp. I would not be surprised to see G4 conditions tonight. I think G3/Kp 7 is a given at this point.
